Google Or Bing, Which Search Engine Is Better?

Google Or Bing, Which Search Engine Is Better?

Although Bing Has Recently Provided More Features To Users With Its Chat Bot, Google’s Search Engine Has Taken A Much Larger Share Of The Market.

Google is the first and last choice for many people to search the Internet, but Bing, Microsoft’s search engine, even though it is not so popular or standard, provides good exclusive features to users.

Bing includes a new Chatbot similar to ChatGPT that can help users with complex searches. Here we read what else differentiates Google and Bing and which search engine is on top.

Comparison of Google and Bing Usage

Although the exact number of searches or daily active users in both Google and Bing search engines is unknown, various programs show that about 90% of searches are done on Google.

According to Statista, Google has an 84% share in the desktop search engine market, and in the mobile market, it occupies 95%. Instead, Bing is admirable, given its competition with Google, with a market share of 9 percent in desktop searches and less than 1 percent in mobile searches. Despite the significant difference in these numbers, more than 12 billion searches are performed on Bing monthly.

This search engine is more prevalent in some countries.

In short, Google’s share in the global market is between 85 and 95 percent. Although the percentage of Bing, which has existed since 2009, is less, it alone has managed to take nearly 10% of the market share of desktop search engines.

In addition, many smaller search engines such as Yahoo and DuckDuckGo also rely on Bing results, which shows that Bing is well established in the search field.
In addition, Bing is more used in certain regions, such as the United States, claiming more than 30% of all searches. Amazon’s Alexa and Apple’s Siri digital assistants also use Bing services behind the scenes.
Despite the long way to go, Microsoft is still developing Bing, and it’s not hard to see why. Its advertising division currently generates roughly $18 billion in annual revenue despite Bing’s lackluster presence. According to the company told analysts, just a one percent increase in Bing’s market share would add $2 billion in additional revenue.

Both search engines allow users to search for text, videos, images, news, and popular shopping websites. Comparing the performance and quality of Google and Bing’s results,

it isn’t easy to measure the quality of the effects of billions of searched terms and compare them. However, both Google and Bing generally meet the average user’s needs.

As expected from a search engine, both Google and Bing search engines provide reasonably accurate results along with a list of links to related web pages. The result pages are not much different from each other. Both sometimes extract and display pieces of text from reliable sources such as Wikipedia.

Bing, as pictured above, often includes a rich visual infographic alongside other search results. Further, if a user asks a question with a yes or no answer, Bing usually summarizes text from multiple sources. Google is trying to do the same thing, but the answer comes from only one source. This feature doesn’t necessarily indicate better Bing performance, as it sometimes gives the wrong answer even when citing the correct sources.

If you prefer to use Google products such as Maps, its search engine may also be your priority. These differences are minor but have a significant impact on the usability of each search engine. For example, Bing Maps’ traffic and business data are not as deep as Google’s mapping service. On the other hand, Bing has the upper hand in video search, which includes an intuitive interface that enables streaming videos directly on the website.

Comparison of Bing and Google artificial intelligence chatbot

In 2023, Microsoft introduced Bing Chat. This chatbot is based on the same technology as ChatGPT and enables more personalized and interactive searches. Microsoft has invested more than ten billion dollars in it so far.
AI chatbots like Bing perform exceptionally well when answering complex questions. For example, they help plan a vacation or choose a gift. Here is an example of Bing Chat responses on mobile.

The difference between ChatGPT and Bing Chat is that Microsoft licenses ChatGPT to use its chatbot and search the Internet. This possibility makes it extremely powerful and can be used to find the desired furniture or compare different products from a specific point of view. In a traditional search, you must do several separate searches and research each item.

Google’s Bard AI chatbot hasn’t been released yet, and although the company has already demonstrated the technology, it’s not yet available to the public. While using the GPT-3 infrastructure and years of experience in fine-tuning, Bing Chat has succeeded in becoming a viable replacement for Bard both behind the scenes and publicly. However, it is still unclear how Bard will compete with Bing Chat or ChatGPT.

Can Bing overtake Google?

It is unlikely that Bing will become the world’s top search engine in competition with Google. The main reason is the billions of dollars Google pays to maintain its status as the default search engine on many devices. Analysts say roughly $15 billion of Google’s money is spent on Apple to maintain its default position on iPhones, iPads, and MacBooks.

Also, Google requires users to install GMS mobile services, Chrome, and other apps on all their Android phones. In contrast, Microsoft uses Bing as the default search engine in Windows and its Edge web browser.

However, over the past decade and a half, Microsoft has not attempted to make Bing the default search engine for competing for operating systems and web browsers. It seems that even now, this is unlikely.

In short, the Microsoft Rewards program incentivizes users to use Bing and allows it to compete with Google by becoming the default search engine. However, Microsoft has announced that BingChat has made the number of daily active users of the search engine exceed 100 million users for the first time.

Although by the company’s admission, Bing is still a novice player with a small market share compared to Google, there is a possibility that this will change in the future.
