Types of Tabs in Gmail and Their Settings

Gmail has a number of tabs that allow users to access different parts of their email accounts easily.

In general, there are 14 tabs in Gmail, which are:

1- Inbox

The Inbox tab in Gmail shows messages sent directly to your email and displayed in your inbox. These messages may include emails from friends, family, colleagues, organizations, and other senders. Users can quickly access, view, reply to, or delete messages using the Inbox tab. Also, the Inbox tab allows users to sort their messages by subject, sender, date, etc., and easily access the messages they need.

2- Sent

The Sent tab in Gmail shows the messages you’ve sent. Using the Sent tab, users can easily access the messages they have sent to others. Edit them if needed and easily access the messages they have sent to others. Also, the Sent tab allows users to access their sent messages. Sort them by subject, recipient, date, etc., and easily access the messages you need. Using the Sent tab, users can easily access all the emails they have sent and ensure they have been sent correctly.

3- Important messages

Using its intelligent algorithms, the Gmail system identifies messages that appear important to the user based on how they interact with emails, email content, and other factors and displays them in the Important tab. These messages may include higher-priority emails from people who messaged you. or emails for important topics such as event schedules, banking information, passwords, account verification, etc. By using the Important tab, users can take advantage of this smart Gmail system feature to identify and easily access important messages.

4- Starred messages

The Starred tab in Gmail shows the messages you have marked as important or needing more attention. Using the Starred tab, users can quickly access and view starred messages. This feature allows users to access their important messages and reply or delete them as needed.

5- Spam

The Spam tab in Gmail displays messages considered spam and has been automatically moved to this folder by the Gmail system. These messages may include emails that contain spam, phishing, advertising, or other dangerous content. Additionally, the Spam tab allows users to provide feedback on spam messages. Also, it helps Gmail to more accurately identify messages that are known as spam and provide the best solution to deal with them.

6- Social

The Social tab in Gmail displays messages received from various social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc. These messages may include notifications from friends, media messages, automated responses via social networks, etc. Users can quickly access and reply to or delete messages from their social networks. This tab helps users easily separate social network messages from their other messages. and suggests the best solutions for managing social network messages.

7- Promotions: Advertisements

The Promotions tab in Gmail shows promotional messages and promotions related to services and products that the user has used. This tab helps users to distinguish promotional messages from their regular messages. And according to their personal needs and desires, respond to them or delete them. In addition, this tab allows companies that advertise their services and products to communicate with their customers and suggest the best advertising strategies.

How to block or unsubscribe an advertising sender in the Promotions tab

To block a specific sender in the Promotions tab in Gmail, you can use the “Block” feature. To do this, follow the steps below:

1- Log in to your Gmail account.
2- Enter the Promotions box.
3- Open the message you received from the desired sender.
4- Click on the “More” button.
5- In the opened menu, select the “Block” option.
6- In the window that appears, click the “Block” button to block the sender.

By doing these steps, all the messages you receive from the desired sender will be automatically transferred to the Spam folder. This way, you will no longer see messages from this sender in your inbox. You can also remove the sender from your block list at any time. How to remove the Promotions tab

To remove the Promotions tab in Gmail on a computer, you can use the following steps:

1- Log in to your Gmail account.
2- On the main page of Gmail, on the left side of the page, click on the “Settings” button.
3- In the opened menu, go to the “Inbox” section and select “Configure inbox” from the available options.
4- In the opened window, uncheck the “Promotions” option.
5- Click the “Save” button to save the changes and remove the Promotions tab from your Gmail inbox.

By doing these steps, the Promotions tab will be removed from your Gmail inbox, and all Promotions messages will be displayed in your inbox as usual. These steps have been demonstrated in the following video:

8- All Mail

The All Mail tab in Gmail shows all the messages you have received or sent in your account. This tab contains all the messages that are stored in different folders such as Inbox, Sent, Drafts, Spam and Trash. In other words, the All Mail tab contains all the messages that are in your Gmail account, even the messages that have been stored in other folders for various reasons, such as being deleted or labeled as spam. By using the All Mail tab, users can quickly access all their messages, search and sort them, and access them if needed. This tab allows users to manage their messages more comprehensively and easily access the messages they need.

9- Unread

The Unread tab in Gmail allows users to view messages that have not yet been read. This tab shows messages that have not yet been read so that users can view and reply to their new messages. This feature helps users to be better aware of their new notifications and respond quickly.

10- Snoozed

The Snoozed tab in Gmail allows users to snooze messages and have them reappear at a time of their choosing. Using this tab, users can snooze messages they don’t need and return to them when they want. This feature allows users to manage their messages better and improve their productivity in using Gmail.

11- Drafts

The Drafts tab in Gmail allows users to view messages not yet finalized and saved as drafts. Using this tab, users can save their messages as drafts and return to them at other times and track the progress of their work over time. In other words, drafts are actually messages that the user is writing and has not yet finalized. Using the Drafts tab, users can quickly access their messages, edit and complete them, and send them when needed. Also, this tab allows users to manage their drafts, list them by creation date, and easily delete redundant drafts.

12- Categories

The Categories tab in Gmail categorizes and displays your emails based on different topics and categories, such as social, promotional, health, news, and more. By using the Categories tab, users can easily access messages related to different categories and find the messages they want without having to search through all their messages. Also, the Categories tab allows users to easily access their messages and sort them by categories, topics, etc. and easily access the messages they need.

13- Updates

The Updates tab in Gmail shows the messages that have been sent to you in the form of updates, alerts, and notifications. These messages may include notifications from your online services, notifications about your social media profiles, messages that the Gmail system sends you as updates, etc. The Updates tab allows users to easily access their messages, sort them according to different topics and categories, and easily access the necessary messages.

How to delete Updates messages automatically

To automatically delete Updates messages in Gmail, you can use filters and automatic settings. To do this, follow the steps below:

1. Log in to your Gmail account.
2. On the main page, click the “Settings” button.
3. In the opened menu, click on the “Filters and Blocked Addresses” option.
4. On the next page, click on the “Create a new filter” option.
5. In this section, you can set the criteria you want to delete Updates messages. For example, in the “Has the words” section, enter “Updates.”
6. Then click on the “CreateFilter” button.
7. In the next section, select the “Delete it” option to delete Updates messages automatically.
8. Finally, click the “Create filter” button to save your automatic settings.

After these steps, any message containing the word “Updates” will automatically be deleted. Using this feature, you can prevent your inbox from being filled with Updates messages and easily access your more important messages.

14- Forums

The Forums tab in Gmail displays messages that have arrived in your inbox from forums, newsgroups, or distribution lists. Users can quickly access and view their messages from the forums using the Forums tab and reply or delete them as needed. In other words, this feature helps you to individually view and reply to or delete messages posted as part of forums, chat groups, or distribution lists. Also, using the Forums tab, you can easily access important messages from your forums and chat groups. And communicate more effectively with other members of forums and discussion groups.
