The Time To Connect Smartphones To Starlink Satellite Internet Has Been Determined
During The Satellite 2023 Conference, Starlink Executives Released More Details About Offering Satellite Internet On Smartphones.
In cooperation with T-Mobile, SpaceX will start testing Starlink satellite internet connection service for smartphones later this year.
Announcing this news at the Satellite 2023 conference, Starlink’s vice president of sales said that we would learn a lot by doing these tests.
About six months ago, it was announced that SpaceX and T-Mobile would cooperate in providing satellite Internet on smartphones.
The company has launched about 4,000 satellites into orbit and recently added the new V2 Mini satellites, a smaller version of the second-generation Starlink satellites, to its network.
Starlink’s vice president of sales says the company currently produces six Generation 2 satellites a day at its factory near Seattle. SpaceX also now manufactures thousands of satellite internet receivers per day.
SpaceX’s unveiling of V2 Mini satellites
SpaceX has recently unveiled and launched its new generation of Starlink satellites called V2 Mini. The small satellites of the second generation of Starlink, with their smaller dimensions, have a capacity of 4 times compared to the previous generations.
The new model of the second generation of Starlink satellites, called the V2 Mini, is a compact version of the V2 that can be launched into orbit by the Falcon 9 rocket. SpaceX said: “The V2 Mini satellites have more advanced antennas and use the E-band network, which allows Starlink to provide four times the capacity compared to the previous generation.
SpaceX has not yet announced the data transfer speed of the V2 Mini satellites, but the first generation of the company’s satellites has a capacity of 17 to 23 Gbps. The mini-satellites of the second generation are more significant than the first generation, and their weight has reached 800 kg and is 4.1 meters wide.
In addition, Starlink has officially introduced its Internet roaming service, which is the first realization of providing Internet in all parts of the planet without restrictions.
In a statement sent to its users in e-mails and messages, Starlink announced that this service would be activated at a monthly cost of $200 and plans to use laser communication technology between the company’s satellites to provide Internet access around the globe. It is available in almost all parts of the world.
