Windows 12 release date and everything we expect from this operating system
While There Is A Long Time Left Until The Release Of The New Version Of Windows, Rumors Are Announcing The Release Of The New Version Of Windows. What Do We Expect From Windows 12?
Windows 11 was released almost six years after the first version of Windows 10. Considering this period, it seemed a bit far-fetched to see a new version of the Windows operating system soon; But some rumors suggest that Microsoft is hard at work on the next version of Windows, which might be Windows 12. The latest version of Windows is currently in the engineering and initial planning stage under Next Valley.
Before starting, we must mention that it cannot be said definitively that the name of Microsoft’s next operating system will be Windows 12, and so far, even the Redmonds themselves have not chosen an official name for the next version of Windows; However, since this version will be released after Windows 11, we will use the name Windows 12 for it; But in the end, any character may be chosen for it.
When will Windows 12 be released?
Before we examine the possible features of Windows 12, it is better first to answer the critical question, when will Windows 12 be released? Some reports say that the next version of Windows will be released in 2024, almost three years after Windows 11. Considering the release date of previous versions of Windows, we can hope that Windows 12 will be available in the second half of late 2024.
What do we expect from Windows 12?
Microsoft always provides new operating systems with various facilities and features; However, some Windows features have remained untouched for less than two years until Windows 12; here’s a list of all the changes we hope Microsoft will add to the next version of the Windows operating system.
Scalability
Windows runs on all kinds of devices; From high-end and gaming computers to affordable versions designed for everyday tasks; Therefore, currently, a wide variety of laptops and PCs use the Windows operating system, and it is not very logical for Microsoft to adopt a “one version for all” strategy and launch a single version for all devices.
Scalability would be an attractive feature for low-cost devices, Especially Windows computers based on ARM architecture, which are designed as a portal to the Internet and access to web-based services. On the other hand, it also helps to reduce the consumption of system resources and the effects of the operating system in computers with low processing power; Because it makes such devices perform faster and provide a better user experience.
On the other hand, even the issue of installing applications can be included in scalability; Naturally, not all users need to install all applications, so Microsoft can give users the option to choose between supporting all applications and web-only applications when installing Windows 12.
Microsoft previously planned to achieve the goal of scalability with Windows Core and Windows 10X and compete with the Chrome OS operating system, but unfortunately, this project was abandoned entirely. Now, after the unsuccessful action of Microsoft in previous Windows, maybe it is time to start competing with Chrome OS again by producing a new version of Windows. We expect Windows 12 to be a lightweight and web-focused operating system, Which Chrome has done well.
Better lock screen
Among the parts of the Windows user interface that need to be updated, we can mention the lock screen, which has remained unchanged since Windows 8. The current lock screen does not offer many features; It only displays the time, and the user can customize it to show only the notification of one of the apps like calendar or weather.
Lock screen overhaul should be a high priority for Microsoft in Windows 12 so that the user can see more notifications on the lock screen without logging into the system. The same goes for taking notes, whether with a pen, mouse, or keyboard.
More dynamic user interface
As we mentioned in the scalability section, it would be great if the Windows 12 user interface could be more dynamic and adaptive depending on your hardware. Currently, the Windows 11 desktop user interface on non-touch computers has acceptable performance, but for other devices, such as tablets, this performance could be much better.
Now the question arises, why does Microsoft not create a dedicated user interface for tablets to create a unique experience for those who use Windows on touch devices? Of course, it should not be ignored that Windows 11 currently has a touch interface; But users expect to see dedicated user interface design for touch devices in the future.
Windows 8, with all its faults and defects, provided a fast and smooth user interface to users of touch devices. We do not expect the return of the start screen or live tiles in this version, But the dedicated touch interface for tablets can have many fans; Because in the Windows 8 experience, all devices, both touch and non-touch, had to use the touch interface, and this is one of the reasons for the failure of Windows 8.
A more dynamic user interface can be extended to other parts of Windows; For example, if Microsoft adapts the Xbox user interface to PCs, it could provide gamers with a dedicated game mode compatible with the Xbox controller. Thus, when the controller is connected, the dedicated user interface of the game will be displayed automatically.
Better integration of Windows with Android
Windows 11 currently connects your Android phone and PC using the Phone Link application, but this is not enough and does not give the user a pleasant feeling. The Windows user should be able to access the phone’s notifications from the taskbar or the taskbar to see information about the phone’s battery life and other essential things without entering a particular application.
Windows users should have the same enjoyable experience that Apple users have between Mac and iPhone. In general, users do not want to have to use a side program to access their Android phone through Windows, and this is not a big request.
In the upcoming article, we tried to point out some features that we expect Microsoft to focus on in the new version of Windows; Of course, things like a faster Windows update system and security updates should all be on the company’s agenda.
However, we are still far from the release of Windows 12, and we don’t even know its name. Still, we hope that Microsoft can implement the improvements and updates we want in the new version of Windows, and we will see better quality and performance in Windows 12.
