Lenovo’s Legion Go handheld game console was introduced
In addition to the 16-inch Legion 9i gaming laptop and Legion Glasses smart glasses, Lenovo’s also unveiled its Legion Go Windows handheld console at IFA 2023 , which we have seen various reports about in the past weeks.
Rumors last month suggested that Lenovo was reportedly working on an 8-inch handheld game console to compete with the Steam Deck. Now Lenovo has unveiled the Legion GO, the company’s first Windows handheld gaming console built with “premium specs and visuals” that deliver a PC-like experience.

In terms of design, the device is similar to Asus’ ROG Ally handheld game console , but like the Nintendo Switch, it has removable controllers as well as some unique controls.
Among the handheld consoles released so far, the Legion Go has the largest display, supporting an 8.8-inch QHD+ LeSmi display. For comparison, competing devices like the Steam Deck, ROG Ally, and Nintendo Switch OLED have 7-inch displays. Lenovo explains that the device’s display offers a maximum brightness of 500 nits and offers a resolution of 1600p to 800p with a refresh rate of 144Hz or 60Hz.
This device also uses Extreme processor with AMD RNDA graphics. Since Legion GO runs Windows 11, users can access services including Steam, Epic Games Store, and Xbox Games Store.
Several configurations have been considered for this device, and users can purchase the desired version from several options with up to 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1 TB of PCIe Gen4 SSD. Also, its memory can be increased up to 2 TB through the microSD card slot.
Like we mentioned, Legion Go has detachable controllers like the Nintendo Switch. Lenovo’s device controllers are called Legion TrueStrike, and they have features that we haven’t seen on similar devices before. For example, there is a mouse wheel on the right edge.
As for the ports, the device has two USB-C ports located on the top and bottom, supporting Power Delivery 3.0 and DisplayPort 1.4 technologies. There is also a 3.5mm headphone jack and a microSD card slot.
Lenovo’s Legion Go handheld game console is expected to launch in October this year with a base version of $699 . However, this company has announced that the information about the price and the time of release of the device may change.
