Introducing Toshiba External Hard Drives

Toshiba, One Of The Leading Brands In The Production Of Computer Memory With A History Of Fifty Years, Has Introduced A Wide Range Of External Hard Drives In The Iranian Market.

In this article, we want to introduce Toshiba external hard drives and examine their differences.

The Toshiba family of external hard drives is called the Canvio. Toshiba, which is still one of the leading names in computer memory, introduces new Canvio family external hard drives every year. Last fall, the company unveiled new models that have now reached the Iranian market.

Toshiba External Hard Drive Collection

Toshiba external hard drives have entered the Iranian market in six models. Each of these models offers different possibilities for different needs and budgets.

At first glance, you may not notice the difference, and their sheer variety may confuse you with buying an external hard drive. For this reason, we will introduce the types of Toshiba external hard drive series models so that you can prepare the right model according to your needs.

Toshiba Canvio Basics

Toshiba Canvio Basics is Toshiba’s simplest and most economical external hard drive; Of course, the price difference between this model and other models is not large.

However, if you are looking for the most economical external hard drive and do not pay much attention to special features such as attractive design or advanced security features, Canvio Basics will be one of your main options.

Toshiba Canvio Basics

The Canvio Basics series is available in capacities ranging from 500GB to 4TB, all of which support the first generation of the USB 3.2 standard.

In theory, it can transfer data at a maximum speed of 5 Gbps. Of course, this does not mean that you can not connect it to older USB 2.0 devices; But if you want to get the most out of your hard drive, you need to connect it to a port that supports USB 3.2.

Inside the device box, except for the manual, there is only one USB 3.2 cable, one end of which is USB type A and the other end is MicroUSB type B, which connects to the hard disk.

The same cable also supplies hard disk power; So, you can connect it to all types of smart TVs without any problems.

According to Toshiba, the Canvio Basics hard drive is compatible with Windows 8.1 and later (Windows 10 and Windows 11). If you use an earlier version of Windows such as XP, you will most likely have this external hard drive problem; Of course, we did not encounter any problems using Toshiba’s external hard drive in Windows 7.

Toshiba Canvio Basics has a simple and slim design and so-called minimal. This 2.5-inch hard drive is so small that it fits easily in the palm of your hand.

Depending on the capacity of the hard disk, their weight also varies. The 500GB model weighs only 140 grams, the one-liter and two-byte models are 10 grams heavier, and finally, the four-terabyte model weighs close to 220 grams.

So except for the 4TB model, the rest of the models are so lightly designed that you can hardly notice the weight in your hand.

Another thing to note about Canvio Basics is that the body of this hard drive has a completely matte finish, and no fingerprints remain on it; Therefore, the appearance of the hard drive always stays clean. This hard drive is only available in black.

Toshiba Canvio Ready

In the next step, we come to the Canvio Ready model. Explaining this model, Toshiba said that Canvio Ready, as its name suggests, is Plug and Play, and you can use it only by connecting it to a computer. While this is true, all of Toshiba’s external hard drives, and perhaps a little exaggerated, all of the world’s hard drives, work in Plug and Play mode!

Overall, Canvio Ready is very similar to Canvio Basics and has undergone minor changes. The most obvious and important change in Ready compared to Basics goes back to its appearance.

Unlike the Canvio Basics, which has a simple body with a one-handed matte finish, the Ready hard drive is adorned with a two-part cover that is partly matte like the Basics and glossy on the other.

These two body design divisions, which remind us of the first generation of the PlayStation 4 game console, give Ready a sleeker, more professional look.

In addition to the external design discussion, the internal design of the hard disk has also changed to reduce the possibility of damage to the hard disk in everyday movements.

In addition, compared to the Basics model, the device has a built-in sensor that shuts off the device when shock or shock strikes so that your data is not damaged. Another important point is that Ready is only available with capacities of one, two, and four terabytes, and there is no news about the 500 GB model.

Apart from these differences, there is no other difference between Canvio Basics and Ready. The Canvio Ready series also supports the first generation of USB 3.2 standards with a maximum speed of 5 Gbps and has a light and slim body.

Toshiba Canvio Slim

The most expensive and luxurious Toshiba external hard drive is called Canvio Slim. This hard drive, which is available in two colors, silver and black, has a skinny and light body and is made entirely of aluminum.

It is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful external hard drives on the market. The matte finish of this hard drive is also highly resistant to fingerprint absorption.

The Canvio Slim external hard drive is designed in both 1 and 2TB capacities, with the 2TB model being about three millimeters thicker.

It goes without saying that the weight of the 1TB model is only 115 grams, and the weight of the 2TB model is close to 150 grams.

Toshiba Canvio Slim

All Canvio Slim capacities support the first generation of USB 3.2 standard and can exchange data on paper at a maximum speed of 5 Gbps; Of course, this is the case if you connect it to a computer or laptop with a USB 3.2 port. This 2.5-inch hard drive also receives the required power from the USB port, and you can connect it to all types of smart TVs without any problems.

Among the attractive features of Canvio Slim, we can mention two software, Toshiba Storage Backup and Toshiba Storage Security. As its name implies, the first software automatically backs up the contents of the hard disk to the cloud.

Toshiba provides buyers of this hard drive with 2 terabytes of storage space so that they can come periodically back up their hard drive content. The second software, Storage Security, is used to encrypt your hard drive to increase the security of your data. You can download both software for free from the official Canvio website.

Toshiba Canvio Advance

The Canvio Advance series is one of Toshiba’s top hard drives and one of the most attractive external hard drives on the market. For most people, this hard drive can be the best option.

Let’s start with the appearance of Canvio Advance. This model is available in four colors: white, black, red, and blue, and it has a matte finish with a grainy texture. This granular tissue reduces the possibility of it slipping from the hand and increases its resistance to fingerprint and hand fat absorption.

Toshiba Canvio Advance

The Toshiba Canvio Advance is available in three capacities of one, two, and four terabytes.

The one and two-terabyte models weigh 149 grams, and the four-terabyte model weighs nearly 220 grams. Although the Canvio Advance is thicker and lighter than the Slim series, it is less expensive.

This hard drive also supports two software, Storage Backup and Storage Security; So by downloading this two software for free from the official Canvio website, you can back up your hard disk data to the cloud and even encrypt your data.

Like the other external hard drives we’ve introduced so far, the Canvio Advance supports the first-generation USB 3.2 standard and can transfer data at speeds of up to 5 Gbps.

Toshiba Canvio Flex

Toshiba Canvio Flex is Toshiba’s most flexible external hard drive. Before we look at its design, we need to talk about its most prominent feature, its great flexibility.

Inside the box of this hard drive are two USB cables, one with USB Type-A and the other with USB Type C. This, along with its exFAT format, helps you connect Canvio Flex to Apple and Android devices with Type C ports, in addition to Windows and Mac-based computers.

The device’s body consists of white and silver parts, both of which have a matte finish and do not absorb fingerprints. You can get the Canvio Flex external hard drive only in silver color with a capacity of one, two, and four terabytes.

The 1 and 2TB models are only 13 mm thick, weigh about 150 grams, and are considered slim and lightweight external hard drives on the market.

It should note that the four-terabyte model is a little thicker and heavier, and its thickness and weight are 19 mm and 210 grams, respectively.

Toshiba Canvio Gaming
