Tik Tok Was Recognized As The Most Profitable Application In The Third Quarter Of 2022
Despite The Slight Decrease In App Store And Play Store App Store Revenue In The Third Quarter Of 2022, Tik Tok Won The Title Of The Highest-Grossing App In This Period.
In the third quarter of 2022, users have reduced their costs related to purchasing applications and in-app purchases by 5%; But the social network application Tik Tok has changed records in this period of time and won the title of the most profitable application for the fourth consecutive quarter.
Sensor Tower’s latest report on the revenue of mobile apps shows that Tik Tok has once again won the title of the most profitable app in the world, and this record was achieved while the overall revenue of the app market has been declining.
Of course, we must mention that this report has combined TikTok’s income with its Chinese version known as Douyin; Therefore, the declared income is technically a combination of these two programs.
According to TechCrunch , the global version of Tik Tok together with Douyin managed to earn a total of $914.4 million in the third quarter of 2022 as the highest-grossing program other than the games category in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
Sensor Tower explains that Douyin alone earned $433.5 million, or about 47% of the total reported revenue for TikTok.
This program was the top non-gaming application in the App Store in terms of revenue; While in the Google Play Store, after the Google One storage subscription service, it was placed in the second place of this list. The company’s report notes that TikTok and Douyin applications have generated about $6.3 billion in revenue to date.
Consumer spending on in-app purchases and subscriptions and downloads of paid apps on the App Store and Google Play has reached $31.6 billion in the third quarter of this year with a 4.8 percent decrease compared to the same period last year. In addition, the amount of downloads of programs has reached 35.3 billion with a decrease of about 1%.
App Store’s revenue is still double that of Google Play and reached 21.2 billion in the third quarter of 2022. In comparison, this store’s revenue has decreased by 2.3% ($21.7 billion) compared to the third quarter of 2021. The decrease in the revenue generation of the applications market in Google Play is more than in the App Store, and compared to the same time period last year, it was 9.6% lower.
In fact, the revenue of this store in the third quarter of this year was 10.4 billion dollars; While this figure for the third quarter of last year was announced at 11.5 billion dollars.
The amount of mobile game purchases from the App Store and Google Play decreased by 12.7% compared to last year and reached 19.3 billion dollars. App Store users have spent about 9.8% less on mobile games in the third quarter of this year compared to the same period of 2021, and the revenue of this sector has reached 11.9 billion dollars. In addition, Google Play’s revenue from the sale of games reached 7.4 billion dollars with a decrease of 16.9%.
At the same time, the number of installed programs has also been associated with a slight decrease; But since Google Play is the main reason for the increase in the number of app downloads, the nearly 1% decrease in this statistic is mostly due to its 2.2% decrease in the third quarter of 2022, which reached 27 billion times.
It goes without saying that the number of app downloads from the App Store has reached 8.2 billion downloads with a growth of 3.8% in this period of time, which of course cannot compensate for the decrease in the number of Google Play downloads.
With 196.5 million installs on both the App Store and Google Play, TikTok has been the most visited non-game app; Of course, if we only consider the statistics of the Google store, the Facebook application with 150.3 million installs in the third quarter of this year and passing Instagram, ranks first in this list.
