According to Sammobile, Samsung has announced that even its TVs, such as smartphones and tablets, can be turned off remotely. By activating the Television Block Function feature built into Samsung TVs, the company will notice when the device is stolen or illegally purchased by an individual. Several TVs have recently been stolen from warehouses and retail stores in South Africa during the unrest.
The Television Block Function feature is pre-loaded on all Samsung TVs that can connect to the Internet. The Korean giant has indicated that it has enabled this feature on all TVs stolen in South Africa, which will shut down as soon as they connect to the Internet. Samsung plans to offer this feature in other markets if needed.
