Has Your Wifi Been Hacked?

Has Your WIFI Been Hacked?

If You Are Using ADSL Internet, You Have Encountered A Strange Decrease In Your Account Volume, And Sometimes You Have Even Suspected Your Service Provider.

But does the server system consume volume, or maybe your WiFi has been hacked?

As a long-time ADSL subscriber, you probably didn’t experience throttling problems in the early years. Your system was usually connected to the modem via cable, and your data transmission was utterly controlled.

But the problem arose when with the development of wireless smartphones, ADSL modems enabled data sharing via WiFi technology. But is it insecure to connect your mobile phones wirelessly to the modem through WiFi technology?

WiFi has also thought about security, but…

When the WiFi standard was developed, measures were needed to secure it due to the nature of sharing through an ordinary frequency band between all users.

Various encryption and security systems, such as WPSK and WPSK2, were developed from this.

These systems create a secure connection between your device and the modem through complex encryptions. With this, your data cannot be recovered and viewed in the correct format if it is intercepted by a third party on the way.

But how can your WiFi be hacked despite this security system in WiFI standards?

The first step is to make sure of consumption.

All ADSL internet service providers have provided you with a user panel to check your current service status and information such as remaining volume, remaining time, service speed, purchasing recharges, etc. One of the services you can get through your user panel is viewing micro-consumption.

At first, you can compare the date and time and the volume of consumption in that period with your consumption by checking the micro-consumption section. If you haven’t used the internet modem at that date and time or notice that the consumption is much higher than your average consumption, you can check your modem.

How to find out that someone is using our modem?

The first step to check if your modem is hacked is to prevent the users of the modem. Modem hacking is the connection that is out of your control. A relationship where the user somehow hacks your WiFi password and connects to your modem. But how to find out who is connected to our modem?

The modem settings page, accessed with the address 192.168.1.1, has a section to display the devices connected to it. In this section, you can find out about the presence of unauthorized devices by viewing the number and physical address (MAC) of the devices.

But it may be challenging to enter the modem settings page to check this issue in a few time frames; you can use the provided software for this.

FING is simple and easy software to view connected devices

The Fing software, also available in Android and iOS versions, is simple and compact. By downloading and installing it on your mobile phone, you can instantly see the number of connected devices and their names and IP addresses. This software can be downloaded through the Google Store and Bazaar for Google and the iTunes store for Apple.

For example, in the picture above, you can see that a system of Apple desktops, an HP printer, a TV, an iPhone, etc., is connected to your modem (Netgear).

But what can we do if we notice the existence of an additional and unauthorized device?

After diagnosis, it is time for treatment.

You will indeed hack the WiFi password and connect an unauthorized device to your modem at this stage. You can remove only the symptoms of the problem, like some medicines; that is, you can change the WiFi password or not allow access to that device through the modem settings.

But the better solution is to find out how to penetrate and close the loophole. The best and easiest way to hack a modem is to use Androdumpper software. After finding the name of your modem, this software tries to break its password. But what kind of breach does this software use to infiltrate?

You will notice an interesting thing if you have worked with this software. This software can only penetrate and break the password of modems whose WPS is active. Therefore, disabling the WPS function in the modem settings page is the best and easiest way to prevent this intrusion.

With this, the easy and standard hacking method will be closed. But are you sure that your device will not be hacked again?

Never be sure about security.

There is no way to ensure the modem is safe and unhackable because, at any moment, another loophole may be found to penetrate the modem. Therefore, the best way to ensure the modem is not hacked is to check the devices connected to the modem occasionally. By doing this, you can ensure that there are no unauthorized devices.

The safest recommended method is to use the MAC FILTERING function.

If you still notice the connection of a non-virtual device by disabling your WPS feature, or you are still worried about your modem being hacked, you can use it the safest way. Using this method, you give your modem MAC addresses that are allowed to connect.

By doing this, the modem will only allow authorized devices to connect. Since the MAC address is unique for each device, this method can give you a high guarantee of an authorized connection to your modem.

However, the problem with connecting a new device (such as a guest) is entering the modem settings page and adding your device’s physical address to the allowed addresses each time.

No matter how secure you think MAC FILTERING is, you still cannot be sure your modem is unhackable because the security world is uncertain. But with the suggested methods, you can make sure of this to a large extent because to hack your modem in this situation, higher expertise is usually,s not used in this field.
