Does Xiaomi 13 Ultra Have The Best Camera?
Xiaomi’s Ultra series has always focused on providing an impressive premium experience, water resistance, superb camera hardware, and high power.
After revealing much information, Xiaomi has officially introduced the Xiaomi 13 Ultra. What makes this phone an ultra phone?
The Ultra series has always focused on the camera hardware, which is the case with the Xiaomi 13. The device will include a Leica-branded quad camera system consisting of a 1-inch 50-megapixel primary camera and three 50-megapixel IMX858 secondary cameras.
Xiaomi will use a 1-inch IMX989 sensor for the 50-megapixel primary camera of this device. So you can expect great results in low light. Also, the company will use adjustable aperture technology in the form of a double aperture instead of a variable aperture in this camera. This feature can be handy with the possibility of changing f/1.9 to f/4.0.
Other rear cameras include a 50-megapixel 3.2x portrait camera, a 50-megapixel periscope lens with 10x zoom, and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera with a 122-degree field of view. The quality of these lenses is not as comprehensive as the Galaxy S23 Ultra and its 10 x 10-megapixel periscope camera. However, it will still provide decent quality when using long-range zoom. It also includes a 32-megapixel selfie camera.
According to the company’s claim, the phone will offer more natural images with less processing than competitors such as the iPhone 14 Pro Max and the Huawei P60 Pro. Therefore, this phone can suit people who are not interested in excessively processing camera photos.
The company is also touting custom photography styles, but it’s unclear whether they will be as robust as those found on Apple devices.
This feature is limited to the Pro version and allows you to change settings such as saturation, contrast, and dynamic range. However, the possibility of saving and using settings in the future as a specific style is unclear. Some recent Xiaomi phones allow you to adjust saturation, contrast, and sharpness in professional mode, but there is no way to save these settings as a specific style.
Also, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra includes Leica filters and watermarks, including 4K/60fps Dolby Vision recording (in addition to 8K recording) and Fast Shot mode with the ability to open the camera app and take a photo in 0.8 seconds.
Other features of Xiaomi 13 Ultra
This new phone has a metal frame, synthetic leather, and a curve under the camera bump. The back has antibacterial properties and is resistant to fingerprint grease. Also, with an IP68 resistance rating, this device looks great in theory.
It has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, a 6.73-inch QHD+ OLED display (120Hz, LTPO, 2600 nits max brightness), and a 5000mAh battery with 90W or 50W wireless charging. According to the company, with a 90-watt charger, the device can be charged to 100% in 35 minutes.
Other notable features include dual speakers, an under-display fingerprint sensor, fast USB 3.2, and MIUI 14 alongside Android 13.
Xiaomi also includes an accessory similar to the camera grips on the LG G5 and Lumia 1020 (pictured above) to hold the camera. The grip has a physical shutter button, a zoom dial, and a 67mm adapter. The handle also comes with a lens cap and strap. According to the available information, the price of this accessory will be 799 Yuan (~$116) in the initial release, and its official price will be 999 Yuan (~$145).
