How To Transfer Data From An Old Phone To A New Phone

If You Have Purchased A New Smartphone, You May Want To Transfer All The Important Information From Your Old Phone As A First Step.

Transfer Data, Suppose you are not sure how and how you should do this transfer. This article will explain the different methods of transferring information from the old phone to the new one.

You can quickly transfer contacts, text messages, apps, photo galleries, and other information, and you can even set the same settings for home screen icons, background images, and much more on your new device. If you have migrated from Android to iPhone or vice versa, you can still do many of these things.

Transfer contacts

Probably the most important thing you want to have on your new device is your contacts. Fortunately, there are many options you can use for this transfer, so there is no need for the tedious and time-consuming process of manual transfer. Smartphones make it very easy, thanks to cloud syncing. In the following, we will show you how to do this.

Sync your Google Account

An easy way to keep your contacts up to date on all of your devices is to sync your Google Account. If you already have your contacts saved in your Google Account, you can sign in to your account and have them on your new smartphone. The steps to do this are as follows:

  • Go to Settings> Accounts & Sync.
  • Find and tap your Google Account, then tap Account Sync.
  • Enable the contacts sync option.
  • All your contacts should now be transferred to the new device.

But what if you have multiple Google Accounts on your phone? Well, then you can use one of the contact information options in the relevant application. By default, the first account you have entered on your phone will be used for this.

 All you have to do:

  • Open the Contacts app on your phone.
  • Customize the display of contacts according to the desired account.

For any other type of account, you may have to synchronize manually. If you do not yet have a Google Account, you can easily create one on your smartphone. You can also do this on your computer and then log in to your phone, and the choice is yours.

Sync through Google also has benefits. On the one hand, it also supports contact cards in more complex business modes. On the other hand, you can access your Google Account on almost all operating systems, including Windows Phones, iPhones, and PCs running Windows, Linux, or Mac. Use, access.

Transfer contacts from Android phones to iPhone

After syncing your contacts with your Google Account, transferring them to your iPhone or iPad will be easy:

  • Go to the settings menu on your iPhone.
  • Then find the option to add other accounts in the Email, Contacts, or Calendar section.

You will now see Google, among other options. By synchronizing your Google Account, as mentioned above, you can easily transfer all the contacts registered in your Google Account to your iPhone or iPad.

In the user accounts overview, the Google Account will be displayed as Gmail. Here you can specify which portion of your Google Account information should be transferred to iPhone.

If you want to transfer contacts from Android to iPhone, you can disable the email or calendar sections.

To view or hide the contacts of a Google Account, you can enable or disable that account in the Phonebook application. To do this, go to the Contacts tab in the Phone app and tap the Groups option.

Using the Move to iOS app is another option.

You can get help from Apple to transfer your contacts. To do this, Apple has put the Move to iOS app on Google Play. Install and run this app on your Android phone. Then you can start transferring your data to your new iPhone or iPad. This transfer will be done quickly by creating a special Wi-Fi network protected by a PIN code.

Transfer contacts using an SD memory card

If you do not want to sync through a Google Account and both your old and new smartphones have an SD card slot, you can add your contacts to your new phone via a memory card:

  • First, save your contacts to the SD card (using an older smartphone).
  • By connecting the phone to the computer, make sure that the file is saved correctly in the folder.
  • Then, remove the SD card from the old phone and insert it into the new phone.
  • Now go to your contacts settings and select the import option.
  • Follow the instructions to get everything done automatically.

Use of internal memory

This is practically the same as backing up an SD card, except that you save the contacts to the phone’s internal storage this time. Using this method, you can:

  • Connect the device to the computer.
  • Save the contacts file to it and then transfer it to your new smartphone via PC.
  • Your phone shows the storage location when you save the contacts file.
  • The .vcf file is usually located in the System folder.

If you have a file manager on your smartphone, you can search for this file on your phone and transfer it directly to your new device through various methods such as email or Bluetooth.

Use the SIM card

If you want to use the same SIM card on your new device, you can transfer the data in the old way and copy your contacts to the SIM card memory to have them on your new device.

The advantage of this method is that you can select your contacts one by one or set them aside. But the main problem with this method is the limited memory space of the SIM card; You will be able to store up to 200 contacts in the SIM card memory.

However, it should be noted that the process of saving contacts is no longer available on phones with the newer operating system, although the upload process is still applicable and will be done without any problems. So you can only save your contacts in the SIM card memory if you use an old phone for this purpose.

Another disadvantage of this method is the difficulty of finding contacts who have more information than just the name and number in their file so that you will see the information separated and some names repeated.

This means that you will quickly face limited SIM card memory even if you have less than 200 contacts stored. You may also have problems with the compatibility of your old SIM card with your new device, so it is best to use this method as your last resort.

Transfer contacts from iPhone to Android phones

Transferring data between Apple and Android is not always easy, but there is a simple solution for transferring contacts. Google provides step-by-step instructions on its support pages on sync Gmail, Calendar, and Contacts from iPhone and iPad.

  • First, create a Google Account on your Apple device.
  • If your Apple device has iOS 7 or higher, you can select Google.
  • For iOS 5 and 6, select “Other” and then use CardDAV to add an account.
  • Set up an account and enable the Contacts option after logging in.
  • Sync should then start automatically.

After doing the above, you can enter the same account in your new Android phone to synchronize and transfer contacts.

Your smartphone brand may be the solution.

In addition to the Google solution, Android smartphone makers have also created apps that can transfer contacts from iPhones to Samsung or other companies’ phones. In some cases, this works with a cable connection and a one-way connection between the iPhone and Android, while others use a cloud system specific to the smartphone manufacturer.

Sony Xperia Transfer

Sony’s solution for data transfer is called Xperia Transfer. This app helps you transfer content and contacts from iOS, BlackBerry, Windows Phone, or other Android devices to a new Xperia phone. This transfer includes contacts, calendar, call history, SMS, MMS, notes, photos, music, videos, and documents.

Samsung Switch Mobile

Samsung is at the helm of the Android phone market and has created a solution for its customers to migrate from other phones to the company’s phones much easier. The solution is called SmartSwitch Mobile. It is used to transfer data from an iPhone to a Galaxy, upgrade an old Galaxy phone to a newer company, or change an Android smartphone from another company to a Samsung phone.

The Samsung Support page describes the SmartSwitch process in detail. If your old device is a Samsung Galaxy phone with Android 6, you will have the initial design of the screen on your new device.

HTC Transfer Tool

HTC did not choose a specific name for its app and called it the HTC Transfer ToolBut the company’s approach is the same as other manufacturers.

This app must be installed on old and new phones, but the new phone must be from HTC. Then you can transfer all the important items.

LG Mobile Switch (Transmitter)

We also recommend the LG Mobile Switch app. In this program, text messages, contacts, appointments, and contact lists can be transferred from the old phone to the new smartphone via cable, WLAN, or MicroSD card.

Transfer text messages to a new Android phone

This is exactly what SMS Free Backup & Restore, a free  SMS backup program, does. Your messages are saved in XML file format, and you can then send them directly to your new smartphone via Bluetooth. This file can also be transferred to the new phone by saving it in the cloud and then downloading it to a new device or sending it by email.

The backup app must also be installed on the new Android smartphone. It then automatically detects the sent file and retrieves the SMS messages when you run it.

Note: When uploading messages, the application does not pay attention to the previously uploaded SMS. So if you do this twice, you may encounter a lot of duplicate messages.

Transfer Data

Unfortunately, it is not possible to transfer SMS from Android to iPhone. But you can back up the messages mentioned above and run the XML file backed up by this program on your computer. So at least you can save the data.

Transfer WhatsApp chats

The full details of WhatsApp chats, including pictures, videos, and audio files, can be sent to your new smartphone with a little trick:

  • Download WhatsApp on your new smartphone.
  • Before opening the app for the first time, replace the backup folder of the old smartphone with the backup folder of the new smartphone.

You will not need additional programs or similar third-party tools to do this, and if you need more information, you can raise your problem with us in the comments section below.

Transfer Data

Unfortunately, transferring WhatsApp chats from Android to iPhone or vice versa is not yet available. Even the integration of Google Drive as a support medium has not changed this situation. On Apple devices, WhatsApp stores chat protocols in iCloud, which is not available on Android smartphones.

Transfer bookmarks, history, and passwords

If you use your mobile browser to read and bookmark articles, sign in to your social media account, etc., transferring this information to your new smartphone is essential. But how do we do that? It depends on your browser. Chrome browser, for example, is a product of Google and offers some of the best backup and data transfer options for users. Just open the app and go to settings. There you will be asked to sign in to Chrome if you have not already done so.

Once logged in, you can save and manage whatever you want:

  • Tap your Google Account at the top of the Chrome settings menu.
  • Go to the sync section and select the type of information.
  • Here you can choose to sync all items or just bookmarks, passwords, and more.

Transfer Data

If you prefer the Firefox browser to Chrome, there is no need to worry. Firefox sync functions are very similar to Chrome. You can go to browser settings and tap Sign in to create an account. After syncing your data, you can easily log in to your account on the new device and have all the previous information on your new phone.

Have all your photos on the new device as well

The easiest way to back up photos on your Android smartphone is to back up automatically in the cloud. Apps like Google Photos, Dropbox, Google Drive, or Google+ start the auto-sync process when your smartphone connects to a wireless network.

Therefore, mobile data volume is saved. The upload of images is done completely in the background, and these images can be easily downloaded from the cloud space on the new Android device, if necessary.

If both smartphones have a MicroSD card slot, you can back up the images to the SD card and transfer them to a new device.

Of course, there is a method via PC: connect your smartphone to the computer, copy the folder of images to the computer and transfer them from there to the new Android smartphone. Mac OS users, however, must download the Android File Transfer app. Otherwise, they will not see any files.

Transfer music files

Your songs are most likely in MP3 or similar format in the music folder. This is one of the folders that will appear after connecting the smartphone to the computer. Mac OS users, however, will need to download Android File Transfer again to view the files.

Save these files to your computer and then move them to the same folder on your new smartphone, or you can even create a new folder for these files. No matter the name of your music folder, the music player can find the songs.

Transfer Data

If you want to save your music on your new iPhone, you need to use the iTunes library to find folders and use MP3 files. Apple’s step-by-step guide helps you transfer your music from Android to iPhone.

Transfer programs

As soon as you sign in to your Google Account on your new Android smartphone, the phone will try to install the apps you previously downloaded from Google Play. Google’s backup system is used to do this, but unfortunately, this process may not apply to all of your applications.

To transfer app data between two Android phones, you will need additional backup apps such as Titanium and backup or Helium. You will then be able to access settings, applications, saved accounts, game statistics, etc., again for use.

Transfer Data

Many games now use Google Play Games cloud storage. In this case, all you have to do is install the game on your new smartphone and continue the game. Once you have transferred all the data, your journey begins with the new Android smartphone.

Unfortunately, you will not transfer your apps from your Android phone to your iPhone or vice versa.

It also does not have the feature of automatically downloading apps you previously purchased or installed on Google Play for the App Store, and Apple recommends that users reinstall them manually.

Of course, it should be noted that not all purchases you make for paid apps on Google Play can be transferred to the App Store, so you will have to repurchase all of these apps.

Have you successfully added all your important data to your new phone? If you have a specific program or method other than the above that can be useful, share them with us in the comments section.
