How to block ads on Firefox?
Each person sees an average of 4000 ads per day. If you think that number is high, using an application to block and remove ads is better.
An ad blocker is software that can be used to block ads that work in two ways. The first mode is that this program blocks the signal of the advertiser’s server, so the ad will never be displayed on your page. Another method of these anti-ads is to secure parts of a website with advertisements.

The easiest way: using anti-adware plugins
An extension is a small program installed on top of the main program (here, Firefox) and adds a new feature (here, blocking all annoying ads – a part that Firefox itself does not have).

Some of your favorite sites and magazines rely on advertising. Removing ads from these sites may be detrimental to them. Another method: setting the degree of protection without the need for any program
You can also block ads to some extent in the Firefox settings, but the downside of this method is that it will not stop all ads or works worse than the plugin method. But if for any reason you don’t want or couldn’t install the above plugin, you can block a large part of ads with these settings:
To get started, click on the three-line Firefox hamburger menu in the screen’s upper-right corner. Click on Content Blocking in the drop-down menu. You should see a blue pop-up with several options:
- Standard mode
The standard settings should be enough for you if you don’t mind ads and aren’t tracked by third-party trackers and cookies. To remove trackers in Standard mode, use the Privacy window.
- Strict mode
If seeing too many ads bothers you, Strict mode is more suitable. This mode blocks known third-party trackers and cookies in all Firefox windows.
- Custom mode
You can block anything like trackers, cookies, and more by setting the settings to Custom. If you allow cookies from a website, you will automatically be in customized mode.
Block trackers
If you click on the Trackers box in custom mode, you can block trackers in two ways. One way to block trackers is to do this while working in a Private window. Another way is to block trackers in all windows. Note that if you always block trackers, some pages may not load properly.
Block cookies
Cookies are sent by the websites you visit. They settle on your computer and monitor what you did on that site. For example, the cookie is to blame when an airline increases the rates because you checked the plane ticket once that day.
In Firefox, you can block all third-party cookies or only those set by trackers. Note that blocking all cookies can make it challenging to work on some sites.
Send a signal to avoid being tracked.
Finally, if you do not want your online behavior to be used for advertising, you can check the Do Not Track Firefox option and send a polite message with the theme “No, thanks!” Send to websites to stop tracking you immediately.
Speed up with ad blockers.
