Top 8 Ways to Reduce Data Usage on Windows 11

This article introduces the simplest ways to prevent excess internet usage in Windows 10 and 11. With either method, the amount of internet usage is greatly reduced. After doing all the tricks, it can be said that the amount of internet consumption will be zero.

1- Setting the Internet connection as metered

One of the first things you can do; is to set your connection to metered mode. By doing this, Windows 10 realizes that you do not want updates and large programs to be downloaded automatically.

3- Disabling the automatic update mode

To prevent automatic uploads on all networks, open Settings, go to Update & Security > Windows Update, and click Advanced Options. Click Choose How Updates are Delivered and set or disable this option to PCs on My Local Network only.

 

4- Prevent automatic update of programs and update of live tiles

If you set a Wi-Fi network to Metered, Windows 10 won’t automatically install app updates and transfer Live Tile data when connected to that network. However, you can prevent this from happening on all networks.

To prevent Windows 10 from automatically updating Windows Store apps, open the Store app. Click (or tap) on your profile picture next to the search box and select Settings. Uncheck the Update Apps Automatically checkbox. You can also update apps manually from the Windows Store app. Of course, remember that Windows does not download program updates automatically.

 

This is useful even if you have not installed any apps from the store. Many programs offered in Windows 10 are updated through the store.

5- Disabling computer synchronization mode
