CPanel two-step verification tutorial

What is cPanel’s two-step verification?

As you know, we need a username and password to enter cPanel. By activating the two-step verification feature, after entering the cPanel username and password, we must also enter the security code received on the mobile device or authentication interface to be able to enter cPanel. This factor causes that even if the login information to our cPanel falls into the hands of unauthorized persons, unauthorized access to it is practically impossible. As mentioned, the security of this feature is very significant, and its use seems necessary. In the following, we will teach you how to activate two-step verification for cPanel.

For this, you must first log the CPanel host.

As in the image below, click on the Two-Factor Authentication option in the SECURITY section.

You will be redirected to the page of this tool. If you have not activated this feature, the following message will be displayed:

Two-factor authentication is not configured for your account.

Which means that the two-step verification feature is not active for your account.

To start working and activate the two-factor authentication of CPanel, as shown in the image below, click on the Set Up Two-Factor Authentication option so that you can enter the main activation step.

Enable cPanel two-step verification

By clicking on the Set Up Two-Factor Authentication option, you will be directed to the main activation page.

On this page, two things must be done as follows:

  1. QR code scanning by special apps, especially Google Authenticator
  2. Enter the 6-digit security code provided by the authentication app
  • Download Google Authenticator from Google Play: Google Authenticator
  • Download Google Authenticator from App Store: Google Authenticator

After installing Google Authenticator, just scan the QR code provided in cPanel. A 6-digit security code will be issued to you immediately, which you must enter in its special field as shown in the image and click on Configure Two-Factor Authentication at the end so that you can prove your identity.
