A Major Update For Counter-Strike

A Major Update For Counter-Strike

Valve is about to release a significant update for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive,  according to a report by gaming journalist Richard Lewis.

Sources close to the matter told Lewis that Valve would eventually release a new game version on the company’s Source 2 engine early this month.

Lewis, who has published significant reports on Counter-Strike in the past, says that according to sources, Valve has already hired a group of professional Counter-Strike players to test the updated game at the company’s headquarters in Seattle.

Porting the game to the Source 2 engine, like some of Valve’s other games like Dota 2 and Half-Life: Alyx could result in better performance and graphics.

This isn’t the only upgrade in development by Valve. “The ‘new’ CS:  will come with an improved match search system tailored to player skills, and similar to third-party platforms, such as FACEIT or ESEA, players can find and join CS: GO matches,” Lewis added.

Valve is also expected to increase the real-time rate of the servers used by the game from 64 to 128, potentially resulting in less lag during online matches.

With more than ten years since the release of CS: GO and more than 20 years since the initial release, a significant update from Valve would be strange without the fuss. But that’s not the only evidence of a possible upgrade. Last week, u/DAOWAce on Reddit also discovered a pair of suspicious executables named “csgos2.exe” and “cs2.exe” included in recently released drivers by Nvidia.

Despite the similarity of this release to the release of a brand new game by Valve, as explained by Twitter users @gabefollower and @aquaismissing, this could indicate that Valve has ported the game to the Source 2 engine and that the developers may have been a bit careless with the file naming. To be. However, hopefully, we won’t have to wait much longer to see Counter-Strike 2, and according to Lewis, the game is “in the works.”
