A Photo Of Giant Waves Crashing Into A Lighthouse Has Won The Royal Meteorological Society’s 2022 Weather Photo Competition.

The Weather Photographer Competition is organized annually by the UK-based Royal Meteorological Society (RMetS) in partnership with AccuWeather.

RMetS is a charity that acts as the leading independent expert on climate and weather. At the same time, AccuWeather is the source of weather forecasts serving more than 1.5 billion people every day to help them plan their lives.

This year, Christopher Eason’s dramatic picture Hurricane Eunice, shot in Britain last year, was at the top of the 22 shortlisted photos, earning Eason a $560 prize.

The second and third places also received cash prizes. The winner of the mobile phone category received $560, and the second place received $280.

When the storm was forecast and brought the first red warning for England’s south coast, I knew I had to find a place to record it. I decided to go against the direction of the wind towards the heights and a little further. I arrived early and saw many photographers drowning in rain and seawater and standing very close to the harbor wall.

I was rewarded with a collection of images.

The judges said they loved the power of nature in this year’s overall winning photo; Because it reminds us of how small and insignificant we are and conveys the movement and dramatic power of the sea and the resilience of an artificial building.
