The Stunning Beauty Of Holy Places Around The World
Meet Chris Rainier And See His Work Focused On Recording And Creating Visual Documentation For The Unborn Inhabitants Of This Planet.
For years, photographer Chris Rainier has been fascinated by the process of exploring the meaning of “holiness” in a world full of religions, identities, and increasing consumerism.
In the last four decades, he has traveled the vast expanses of the earth in search of sacred places and landscapes, and recently he has unveiled the fruits of his many journeys in a photo collection and a book titled Sacred.
Rainier’s work is filled with beautiful yet diverse scenes of dilapidated structures, stunning natural wonders, and familiar photographs of communities worldwide.
As a photographer, I look at the world through a unique lens. The world I have discovered in all my years of travel is not unified. Instead, all cultures are born of multiple ways of being, thinking, seeing, and defining what is “sacred.” “I have traveled and explored to try to understand these different ways of looking at our wonderful world and to discover what is sacred to me.”
Disclosure drives Rainier to pursue the world’s many wonders, both natural and artificial.
I enjoy marveling at the immense grandeur of the Grand Canyon in the American Southwest as much as standing in front of the ancient ruins of Al Ala in the Saudi Arabian desert.
All things natural and artificial are connected by a sacred, primordial thread that weaves together to form our entire complex and beautiful planet.
Rainier feels urgent to document and help protect fragile ecosystems in a changing climate. His work is focused on recording and creating visual documentation for the future unborn inhabitants of this planet.
