NASA Has Stopped The SpaceX Satellite Project Due To A Blue Origin Complaint

NASA Has Temporarily Halted The Project After Blue Origin Sued NASA For Working With Spacex, And Spacex Is Not Currently Working On The $ 2.9 Billion Project.

NASA has announced that all parties have agreed to speed up the legal review process and close the case by November.

Blue Origin, a private company, has sued NASA for collaborating with SpaceX to build a satellite for the Artemis Project. NASA usually contracts with two companies for such critical collaborations to ensure that the project will complete on the announced date. However, this time, the government agency received minimal funding requested for the Artemis monthly project, so it decided to forgo cooperation with the two companies.

Jeff Bezos’s company first protested NASA’s decision in May through the US Government Accountability Office. The protest delayed the SpaceX contract for 95 days, and this is the second time that NASA and SpaceX have been forced to postpone the project.

Blue Origin complained about the unfair choice of SpaceX, as the company had the opportunity to reconsider its project if it allowed other competitors.

The Office of Accountability eventually closed the case, concluding that NASA’s assessment of all proposals was reasonable and accurate. The Procurement Law, Regulations, and Announcement Conditions were appropriate and enforceable.

Jeff Bezos even wrote in a letter to NASA that Blue Origin is willing to give the organization a discount of up to $ 2 billion in exchange for a fixed contract. Blue Origin said he was determined to address the problems encountered in acquiring NASA’s operated satellite system in both cases.

A recent complaint also stated fundamental problems with NASA’s decision but that the Government Accountability Office could not address these issues due to its limited jurisdiction. In any case, we will soon find out who is right. This case will review for the first time on October 14th.
