With The Great Acceptance Of Selfies In Recent Years, The Question Arises In People’s Minds As To Who Was The Real Creator Of Selfies.

It doesn’t matter what culture you are from and what language you speak; These days, the word Selfie has become a term in all countries.

It has been almost five years since this word has made a place in cultures, But based on the research, it seems that the background of this word and such photos are much more than what most people think.

According to Sarah Borton, the first creditable use of the word selfie was in September 2002 by a person named  Hopi. Sarah Burton’s statement contradicts an earlier claim by someone named Paris Hilton, who claimed to have invented selfies.

Hopi previously wrote in the description of his photo:

Sorry for the [wrong] focus; it’s a selfie!

But if we go to the history of these photos, we reach 1839 and a person named Robert Cornelis from America. He placed himself in front of the camera for nearly 15 minutes to take the photo below, which we know today as a selfie.

It is not harmful to mention the most expensive selfie recorded in history. This selfie, taken in the 1850s, shows the image of the pioneering Swedish photographer Oskar Rejlander. This photo was later sold for $115,000.

The first group selfie was recorded in the 1920s. Taken on a rooftop in New York, this photograph features photographers from the Byron Company, one of the most famous photography studios in New York at the time.

According to Sara Borton, the selfie photo is not by one person but by the consensus of human society, and during different eras, it has gradually opened its place among people; Therefore, the inventor of this type of photo cannot be considered a particular person.
