WhatsApp is testing a new feature that allows viewing user statuses on the chat page.

So far, several features have been added to WhatsApp, among them the ability to react with emoji and transfer chat history from iOS to Android and vice versa. Now the developers of Zuckerberg’s messenger plan to add another feature allowing users to view their statuses directly from the chat screen.

WhatsApp has introduced status for several years, and users have been using it. The feature allows people to share photos and videos that disappear after 24 hours. Although this feature is not as popular as Instagram Stories, it can be helpful for some people.

According to WABetaInfo, the beta version 22.18.0.70 offers users the possibility to view the status in the chat list:

When your audience shares new statuses, they can be seen directly in the chat list.

As the statuses come to the chat page, more people will notice sharing them, and the popularity of this section will increase. However, according to WABetaInfo, users can choose whether they want to see new statuses in the chat list or not. Currently, it seems that only a tiny portion of beta testers have been able to try this feature.
