The Winners Of The 2022 Ocean Photography Contest
Opry has announced the Winners Of The Ocean Photography Contest 2022. The French Photographer Won The Overall Competition With His Breathtaking Image.
From the Pacific to the Atlantic, our planet’s magnificent oceans are as stunning as they are essential. To help highlight the importance of the oceans, the Ocean Photographer of the Year event invites photographers from around the world to submit images centered around Earth’s waters.
This year’s competition winners have traveled far and wide to record exciting, emotional, and beautiful ocean scenes.
The overall winner of this year’s OPoY contest is French photographer Ben Theward, who captured a captivating image of a surfer battling one of the world’s heaviest waves at Teahupo’o, meaning “Place of Skulls.”
The award captured this incredible photo of a 6-foot wave while free diving in the ocean.
Some other notable categories in the competition include Ocean Conservation Photographer of the Year and Exploration Photographer of the Year. Karim Sabunçovağlu won Ocean Conservation Photographer of the Year for his portrait of a dead eel on an abandoned fishing line. OPoY says:
Ocean Photographer of the Year has a simple mission: to shine a light on the beauty of the ocean and the threats it faces. This annual photo contest is organized by Oceanographic magazine and sponsored by the SeaLegacy conservation organization.
