The Best Astronomical Images Of 2021

The Royal Observatory’s Astrophotography Competition, The World’s Largest Astronomical Photography Competition, Has Just Announced Its Shortlist Of This Year’s Entries.

The Royal Observatory is part of the Royal Museums of Greenwich and is dedicated to enriching people’s understanding of space exploration. The annual Royal Observatory Astrophotographer of the Year photography competition and subsequent exhibition held at the National Maritime Museum Greenwich invites astrophotographers to submit their best work and compete for significant cash prizes.

This year’s competition, which has been held in association with BBC Sky at Night magazine, announced its shortlist some time ago. This year, the contest received more than 4,500 entries from amateur and professional photographers from 75 countries worldwide.

Astronomical images of 2021

This competition has nine categories: “skyscapes,” “aurora borealis,” “people and space,” “our sun,” “our moon,” “planets and comets and asteroids,” “stars and nebulae,” “galaxies,” and “Young astronomy photographer of the year.” In addition, two special awards have been considered for it.

The overall winner will receive £10,000 and be awarded the title of ‘Astrophotographer of the Year 13’. Winners in other categories will also receive £1,500 each. In the following, you can see some of the selected works of this competition.
