Graphics Card

Strange But True; This Version Of Windows Runs On A Graphics Card With 4GB Of VRAM!

The Unofficial Lightweight Version Of Windows 11, Called Tiny11, Can Run Entirely On A GPU’s VRAM.

Windows 11 offers many features, but most users probably don’t use all the features and functions of this operating system. Some features of Windows 11 have only made it heavier, and that’s why Tiny11 tries to provide a lighter version of Microsoft’s latest desktop operating system by removing extra features so that it can be installed on weaker computers without worrying about technical prerequisites.

The small size of Tiny11 has made many users run this operating system on different hardware. A few months ago, a user with the nickname NTDEV managed to run the mentioned operating system on a computer with 384 MB of RAM, and another user ran it on a system with 200 MB of RAM.

Of course, running the Tiny11 operating system on computers with fragile hardware makes you unable to use functions such as multitasking well. However, the possibility of running this operating system on vulnerable computers made NTDEV use the VRAM of the graphics processor for its new project.

Using the GpuRamDrive project, NTDEV managed to store and run the entire Tiny11 operating system on the GPU’s VRAM. The graphics used in the demo version of this project was the laptop version of Nvidia Geforce RTX 3050, which has 4 GB of VRAM. This action is imposed as the operating system runs without any problems.

WccfTech writes that using a high-end GPU helps improve the performance of running Tiny11 OS on VRAM.

Most modern graphics come with 10GB of VRAM, but running games on less than 20GB of VRAM will be challenging.

Since GPU VRAM is faster than RAM or computer storage memory, Tiny11 runs smoother and faster in these conditions. The speed of reading and writing information on this memory with the mentioned operating system was 1960 MB/s and 2497 MB/s, respectively. These projects show that Tiny11 can replace the standard version of Windows 11 on older devices.
