Spectacular Pictures Of Bears Living In An Abandoned Meteorological Station

Dmitry Koch Is A Russian Wildlife Photographer Who Became Famous For Photographing Polar Bears At An Abandoned Weather Station.

Many of us are used to seeing bears in the snow and frozen waters of the Arctic. Dimitri Koch’s photos of bears have been noticed because they were created in an unusual and unusual place compared to what the audience expects.

Seeing polar bears walking around in what seems to be the land of post-apocalyptic humans looks quite unusual, surprising, and questionable. The meteorological station used in Dimitri’s pictures was built in 1922 and closed in 1934. Dimitri says about this experience:

I always wanted to take beautiful photos of polar bears; This was the primary goal of our photography camps. We expected to meet them mostly on Wrangel Island, which is famous worldwide for having many bears; But this year, maybe because of the icy summer, it was not like that. Nature always surprises you when you least expect it.

As we passed Kolyuchin Island off the northern coast of Chukotka, we noticed movement in the deserted windows. As we approached, we saw several bears inside the building! Bears had never been seen inside those buildings before, so this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a photographer.

In the following, you can see these attractive and different pictures and perhaps travel to the world of the story of “Motlai and the Three Bears.”
