Spectacular Image Of Aurora Borealis And Orion Constellation In One Scene
A Photographer Was Able To Capture The Aurora Borealis And Details Of The Orion Constellation That Have Never Before Been Captured In A Similar Image.
Levi’s magical shot, taken in Iceland, has, for the first time, shown the aurora borealis and the Orion constellation in one image. This effect was only possible thanks to a new photography technique.
Red hydrogen dust from Barnard’s ring can be seen around the stars in this image, taken with a Canon EOS Ra camera designed for astrophotography and a special H-alpha nebula filter.
Roy says he’s going to do something no one has done before. He says:
I decided to go to Iceland and use my new filters and equipment, Optolong and Ideas H-alpha filters. I had an idea to capture the aurora borealis along with celestial bodies. I just knew that if I planned the shot correctly, I could see the hunter and the aurora in the same frame.
Roy used the PhotoPills app to align his lens with Orion near Mount Westerhorn in Iceland. He captured two natural phenomena by shooting with an H-alpha filter and without a filter; That is, he never had to move the tripod.
Because of the cloud cover, only the hunter was fully visible, and the aurora borealis seemed to be dancing through the clouds. However, it can be said that the image has become more special with the background clouds.
Levy’s efforts led to NASA selecting him for its Astronomy Day image and being recognized by the European Space Agency (ESA).
