When Gabriel Dabasinskaite was six years old, he lost his father. He was too young to realize that he had lost her forever. He says that growing up without a father at a young age made him see things differently.

A father is critical in a child’s life. When photographing a father, I always think about what it’s like to have a father. I try to combine the love, bond, and connection between father and child in my pictures. I can see the love in their eyes. Sometimes I see the fear on the faces of those who have just become fathers, but I also know the pride and unconditional love. Missing someone has been a part of me for life. I hope my children never have to experience that.

If you have a father, please hug him tighter and don’t be afraid to tell him you need him in your life. These moments are valuable memories that you should notice.
