Google Slide Tutorial (Step by Step for Beginners)
Google Slide is software for slide design in G Suite (Google’s package). Some even call it the PowerPoint little brother; it is very simple, fun, and enjoyable to work with. It’s similar to PowerPoint, but Google Slide has a few tricks that we’ll cover below.
If you’re a talker, you probably have information about Google Slides. This app is free, online, and a favorite of everyone on the internet – fast and simple!
Suppose you need a simple online approach to get things done right away and present them to your coworkers simultaneously. In that case, Google Slide is a great tool with features like easy and simple design options, direct chat, and the ability to use the default slides or “initial version.” This is the purpose.
In Google Slides, you can create your slides for a presentation, create a template, or add content to another PowerPoint file. In Google Slide, everything you create is automatically saved in your Google Drive.
So, do you need Google Slide offline? Of course, there is a solution for that too!
The first step is to create a Google Account (if you have not already done so).
1- Start working in Google Slide
In Google Slides, you can create slides in different ways, which are very fast and easy.
First, you can go to slides.google.com and create your slides on the Google Slide start page. (You must have a Gmail account)
Note: Click here to see the fastest interesting ways to open an empty presentation in just 3 seconds.
You can also click the New button in your Google Drive and select the Google Slides option.
There are two ways to prepare your presentation: you can either use blank slides or choose one of the default templates.
These templates can save you time or help you design slides, especially if you are not interested in the slide design. However, if you want to make your presentation more prominent, it is better to start from scratch and design everything yourself from the beginning.
Import a slideshow created in applications other than Google Slide (e.g., PowerPoint) into Google Slide.
Supported files in Google Slides include the following (they are the same PowerPoint formats):
.PPT
.PPTX
.PPS
Inserting a presentation file from other applications creates a copy of your original file as a Google Slide format in your Google Drive. Then, you can edit that file like any other presentation in your browser.
Also, everything you create is automatically saved in your Google Drive. So you do not need any buttons to save! The slightest change is automatically saved while typing.
2- Google Slide user interface
You will see this when you open a blank slide in Google Slides.
On the left, there is a column where a preview of all your slides will appear. In the lower-left corner, there are two options for viewing slides, and you can choose between two slideshow modes (filmstrip) that show slides vertically in a row or grid slideshow mode (grid). See all your slides on one page.
There are themes or predefined templates on the right that you can use to create your slides. If you do not need them, click on the cross in the upper right corner to close them and design the slides yourself.
The file name in the top bar is “Untitled presentation.” If you click on it, you can enter the name of your file. You can easily find it among other Google Slides or Google Drive slides.
At the bottom are the menu bar and tools bar. For example, when you select a textbox or image, this set of tools is activated automatically.
When you click inside the slide, all the extra panels like Format options or comment/chat panels on the right side of your window will open.
At the bottom of each slide is an option called Speaker’s notes.
To see your presentation, click the Present button at the top right. Right next to it is the Share button. Sharing on Google is very easy to send it to anyone, anywhere, via email, or with a direct link to your presentation.
3- Add a slide with a new design
The first icon (+) on the toolbar’s left side is to add a new slide. If you click on it, a drop-down menu will open where you can see other preset designs by Google Slide. Here you can choose the design you want to create a new slide in your presentation.
