Meta Announced That The Ability Of Instagram Channels To Broadcast Messages Globally Will Be Available To All Users.
Until now, this feature has only been available for content producers and selected users.
The company first launched the Channels feature for Instagram in February to allow creators to share one or more messages with their fans. In May, Instagram introduced support for colleagues on Instagram channels where Zuckerberg chatted with Adam Mussery on his track.
Users can go to the private message section and see the “Suggested channels” section to search for channels they can join. Instagram says these suggestions are based on “your interests, interactions with creators, and activity on Instagram.” You can also search for broadcast channels in the DM section.
Meta said they are testing a special channel menu and questions asked by followers in the message box.
The company has features for creators, including setting a channel expiration date and time, adding a moderator to help manage members, and sharing a link or previewing a story in progress.
It should be noted that Meta also introduced this channel feature in WhatsApp earlier this month. However, initially introduced with select partners in Colombia and Singapore, WhatsApp channels were intended to provide a platform for local and global authorities and organizations to connect with the public.
