Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro Review

With A 120Hz OLED Display, 108-Megapixel Camera, And Glass Body, The Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro On Paper Is One Of The Best Economics On The Market; But Is That Really The Case?

Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro Xiaomi is the most powerful product in the Redmi Note 10 family. Despite the price tag in the range of 8 million Tomans, this phone appears more valuable than its price in terms of technical specifications. For this reason, it is considered one of the suitable options in the market.

OLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and support for HDR, quality speakers, and the 108-megapixel camera is part of the remarkable specifications of the Redmi Note 10 Pro.

Perhaps the main drawback of the Redmi Note 10 Pro is that it does not support 5G, which is not a big issue for Iranian users. With that said, can the Pro model from the Redmi Note 10 family prove its worth in practice?

Design and build quality of Redmi Note 10 Pro

The Redmi Note 10 Pro body measures 8.1 x 76.5 x 164 mm, slightly wider and narrower than the Redmi Note 10. This 6.67 -inch phone is not very ergonomic for the average review writer; to access the edges of the screen and the device’s physical keys, you have to move the phone in your hand constantly.

The Redmi Note 10 Pro weighs in at 193 grams and makes you feel a little heavy when holding it; But not as big as the Poco X3, which weighs 225 grams!

Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro Photography

Redmi Note 10 Pro is experiencing some changes in appearance and design compared to its family, the Redmi Note 10; A Gorilla Glass 5 glass cover protects the back panel of the Redmi Note 10 Pro.

The Redmi Note 10 Pro is available in three colors: blue, bronze, and gray, with two basic models being matte and a third glossy; So if you are interested in gray, you have to choose between constantly cleaning the grease and stains from the body or carrying the phone with a frame!

The first thing that catches your eye on the back panel is the rectangular camera module with rounded edges that protrude from the body, creating a noticeable bulge on the panel. If the phone is placed on the back of the surface, the protrusion of the camera module will cause the Redmi Note 10 Pro to sag too much, making it very difficult to work with.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro in hand

It seems that Xiaomi designers have tried to use design techniques to give the user a sense of metallic back panel, especially in the red color of the Redmi Note 10 Pro.

The Chinese effort has paid off, and the Redmi Note 10 Pro looks very stylish. The glass does not slip while working on the plus side, despite its relatively large glass material.

On the front panel of the Redmi Note 10 Pro, there is a 6.67-inch display with large dimensions and narrow margins. Fortunately, Xiaomi has increased the screen-to-body ratio by 2% compared to the base model and has used Gorilla Glass 5 to protect the screen, which is a significant improvement over the Note 10 Redmi Gorilla Glass 3. The selfie camera slot can also be seen in the center of the screen.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro screen and front design

The Redmi Note 10 Pro’s frame is made of plastic, and its appearance is quite obvious from the glass back panel. The side edges of the frame are sleek and convex, while the top and bottom edges are flat and matte.

The power switch, which acts as a fingerprint sensor, is located in the right frame and the volume keys. Unlocking with a fingerprint is done well and very quickly. There is a memory card slot in the left frame and a SIM card slot that holds two SIM cards and a memory card simultaneously.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro headphone jack and headphone jack

The 3.5mm headphone jack, the IR Blaster module, the microphone port, and one of the two Redmi Note 10 Pro speakers can be seen in the upper frame of the phone. At the bottom edge are the call microphone port, the second speaker port, and the USB 2.0 Type-C port are at the bottom edge.

Overall, the design of the Redmi Note 10 Pro is well done, and Xiaomi has tried to keep the design ratios well. However, the large, protruding module of the camera reduces the beauty and symmetry of the phone.

The Chinese say the Redmi Note 10 Pro is IP53 certified for dust and water resistance. Still, we recommend that you do not seek to verify the accuracy of the manufacturer’s claim as a precaution!

Redmi Note 10 Pro software and user interface

Redmi Note 10 Pro came with Android 11 operating system and MIUI 12 user interface by default; But at writing the lead review, the MIUI 12.5 update was also released for it. Numerous apps and games are installed on the Redmi Note 10 Pro by default, which conveys an exciting feeling to the user from the beginning; Fortunately, it is possible to delete all of them.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro user interface

Xiaomi has introduced new features in MIUI 12.5 that may seem small, But they can improve the user experience. For example, MIUI in the new version has become faster, lighter, and more stable, and its rendering power has been improved 20 times.

On the other hand, the design of visual capabilities has been improved so that the user has a more realistic experience while working with the phone. Other features for customizing system sounds and animated wallpapers have been added to the new version of MIUI called “Super Wallpaper.”

Redmi Note 10 Pro display and speaker

The Redmi Note 10 Pro’s display is somewhat better than other members of the Redmi Note 10 series; We are on the side with the biggest screen in this series. The Redmi Note 10 Pro’s 6.67-inch AMOLED panel has a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels with a density of 395 pixels per inch and can also support HDR10 videos on streaming services.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro screen

Xiaomi says the Note 10 Pro’s Redmi display delivers a maximum brightness of 1,200 nits and supports DCI-P3 color space. On the other hand, the “adaptable” refresh rate of 120 Hz, along with the 240 Hz touch sampling rate, enhances the display response, leading to a smoother user experience (during gaming or everyday use).

Reviews show that the Redmi Note 10 Pro’s refresh rate is not very adaptable; in some limited apps such as YouTube, Netflix, or Xiaomi’s own file manager, the refresh rate drops to 60 Hz; But other times, it stays constant at 120 Hz.

The brightness test results of the Redmi Note 10 Pro display showed that the Redmi Note 10 Pro has excellent brightness (close to Xiaomi’s claim) and relatively good performance in low light mode.

In this way, when working with the phone in the sun, the screen brightness is high enough, and in low light conditions, the Redmi Note 10 Pro lowers the brightness so that your eyes do not bother.

For the Redmi Note 10 Pro, three-color profiles (Auto), Saturated (Saturated), and standard are specified, the first two profiles use DCI-P3 color space, and the standard profile uses sRGB color space.

By default, the phone sits on the auto color space, which indicates saturated colors; however, in this case, the colors tend to be cold, which can be annoying to the eye, especially in low light conditions.

However, if you have a problem with the coldness of the colors, we recommend using a standard profile that has both higher color accuracy and colors that are temperature neutral.

Watch movies with Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro

The Redmi Note 10 Pro is equipped with two stereo speakers along with a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Although the speakers provide good overall volume, their quality in terms of sound separation is unsatisfactory, and this is especially evident in multi-instrumental music styles.

If you use speakers to listen to podcasts and audiobooks, the volume and quality of the audio will probably be acceptable to you. Overall, the quality of the speakers is good for a mid-range phone and has nothing more to offer.

Performance, gaming experience, and Redmi Note 10 Pro battery

Xiaomi uses Qualcomm’s 8nm Snapdragon 732G chip as the beating heart of the Note 10. The Snapdragon 732G CPU has 8 processing cores in the CPU; Two 2.3GHz cores of Kryo 470 Gold (a customized version of Cortex-A76) and 6 cores of 1.8GHz Kryo 470 Silver (a customized version of Cortex-A55) are responsible for CPU-based processing.

Round zoom on Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro

The Snapdragon 732G GPU is the same Adreno 618 module used in the 730G chip; But Qualcomm claims that thanks to the increase in frequency, it has accelerated the performance of this GPU by 15% in the 732G chip.

The Redmi Note 10 Pro does not support 5G. Instead, the Snapdragon X15 LTE modem with a maximum download speed of 800 Mbps and a maximum upload speed of 150 Mbps is responsible for establishing a data connection.

Snapdragon 732G supports Bluetooth 5.,; But it is not compatible with Wi-Fi 6; Therefore, the Redmi Note 10 Pro’s network capabilities will be limited to Wi-Fi 5.

The Snapdragon 732G allows the Redmi Note 10 Pro to record and play 4K video at 30 frames per second. Still, as we’ll explain in the Camera Specifications section, 4K video recording is only possible with the main camera.

In the 128 GB version, about 107 GB is available to the user, and the rest of the space is allocated to the default system files and apps and is out of the user’s reach. Since the microSD port and the second SIM card are independent of each other, you can upgrade the Redmi Note 10 Pro’s storage space without the hassle of choosing between a second SIM card or a memory card.

According to the benchmark results, the Redmi Note 10 Pro does not perform well in storage memory compared to its competitors. Since it uses the same Redmi Note 10 UFS 2.2 storage memory, it does not improve compared to its peers…

In other hardware benchmarks, we see performance improvements due to the enhanced Redmi Note 10 Pro hardware compared to the standard model. This improvement is more noticeable in terms of graphics, and the Redmi Note 10 Pro can run games at twice the frame rate of the Redmi Note 10.

However, when we look at the performance of other competitors, the performance of the Redmi Note 10 Pro seems disappointing. If your goal is to buy a gaming phone, especially for heavy games, you should definitely not open an account on the Redmi Note 10 Pro, and you should go for options such as Poco F3, which has up to 170% better performance in gaming.

Redmi Note 10 Pro runs the popular Call of Duty Mobile game with Medium graphics settings at a rate of 50 to 60 frames per second. As you can see, the highest graphics settings available for the Redmi Note 10 Pro are available in PUBG at rates ranging from 27 to 30 frames per second; But if you choose Smooth graphics settings, you will get a frame rate of 36 to 40 frames per second. Note that in both games, the screen refresh rate is set to 60 Hz.

The Redmi Note 10 Pro uses a massive 5020 mAh battery that, according to Xiaomi, can hold a charge for up to two days under normal use. There is a 33-watt adapter inside the box to charge this battery, which, according to the Chinese, can charge 60% of the battery volume in 30 minutes.

Although the battery life of the Redmi Note 10 Pro is about the same as that of the Redmi Note 10, it is only natural that the battery life should shorten as the hardware becomes more powerful and the display refresh rate increases.

According to our experiments, it seems that with 5 to 6 hours of normal daily use such as surfing the web, listening to music, browsing social networks, and watching videos, you can use the Redmi Note 10 Pro for more than one day on a single charge.

Aside from the not-so-promising charging of the Redmi Note 10 Pro in everyday use, this smartphone had an amazing performance in the video playback, with more than 23 hours of charging in our reviews.

Redmi Note 10 Pro camera

The Redmi Note 10 Pro is no different from the mass media on the market in terms of the combination of cameras used: wide + ultraviolet + macro + depth gauge; But the Chinese have tried to differentiate themselves from others, at least in the “megapixel game.”

The Redmi Note 10 Pro’s main camera uses a large 108-megapixel sensor; While ultraviolet, macro, and depth gauge cameras use 8, 5, and 2-megapixel sensors, respectively. Xiaomi’s mid-range economy also relies on a 16-megapixel camera for taking selfies.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro camera software

We are on the same side as the usual Xiaomi mid-range phone app regarding the user interface. Switch between different shooting and video modes is possible via the menu bar at the bottom of the screen, which also has a shutter button and switch between the rear and selfie cameras at the bottom of the bar.

On the other hand, access to HDR, AI capabilities, ready-made filters, flash, Google Lens, and hamburger menu is possible from the top bar. There are also shortcuts on the viewfinder screen to change the field of view from the main camera to ultraviolet and zoom.

The Redmi Note 10 Pro’s main camera, just like the Mi 11i, uses Samsung’s 108-megapixel HM2 sensor with 1.52-inch dimensions and 0.7-micron pixels and is located behind a wide f / 1.9 lens.

Fingerprint calculations show that the HM2 sensor is about 15% smaller than the HM3 used in flagship products such as the Mi 11, and there is no optical image stabilization in the lens; Thus, the Redmi Note 10 Pro’s main camera will not be at the level of its flagship brother, either in terms of light sensitivity or photography in the dark.

The Nonacell color filter to capture a single color with every 9 pixels adjacent allows the Redmi Note 10 Pro’s main camera to take 12-megapixel photos by default. Xiaomi offers a sensor mode for native 108-megapixel photography, in which case HDR and AI capabilities will not be usable.

The Redmi Note 10 Pro uses an 8-megapixel IMX355 sensor with ultra-small 1 / 4.0-inch and 1.12-micron pixels to capture ultra-wide photos. This camera has no optical image stabilization or autofocus and uses an ultra-wide lens with a field of view of 118 degrees and an aperture of f / 2.2.

Dynamic range and detail of Redmi Note 10 Pro photos

The Redmi Note 10 Pro does not do well in terms of HDR auto-activation. Despite using the same camera, it loses the details of the bright parts of the image compared to its more powerful brother, the May 11, which can be partially activated.

Manual HDR build-up. In addition to discussing dynamic range, the Redmi Note 10 Pro’s main camera produces soft images, especially on subjects such as tree branches. Considering the price tag, we were satisfied with the main camera photos during the day.

The Redmi Note 10 Pro’s ultraviolet camera is one head and neck lower than the main camera, in detail and dynamic range.

According to our reviews, the Redmi Note 10 Pro’s main camera produces colors more or less close to reality, but the ultraviolet camera colors are more saturated and concentrated. In addition to the issue of color accuracy, color distortion sometimes occurs at the border of light and shadow of photos, mostly due to the poor quality of the lenses.

To examine the difference in the level of detail in the zoom and 108-megapixel photos of the Redmi Note 10 Pro, we took a photo of a subject with 2x digital zoom and a 108-megapixel photo.

The images below show the actual 2x image cut and the equivalent of a 108-megapixel image. As you can see, the 108-megapixel image shows more detail and less noise; So if you do not have a problem with 20 MB of 108-megapixel photos and are looking for more details, you can go for 108MP shooting mode in daylight.

Redmi Note 10 Pro camera performance in the dark

Unfortunately, photography in the dark is not one of the Redmi Note 10 Pro’s strengths; The main camera photos are full of noise and small details. The ultraviolet camera captures the photos extremely darkly, with missed highlights and a lot of noise.

Night mode is only available with the main camera, but by activating it, the photos will be a little brighter, the exposure of the highlights will slightly adjust, and the noise will be eliminated as software; This makes the photos softer.

The Redmi Note 10 Pro captures 4K30 video at about 40 Mbps with the main camera, satisfying in daylight detail and dynamic range. Xiaomi’s mid-range ultra-wide camera captures 1080p video at up to 30 frames per second.

Summary and comparison of Redmi Note 10 Pro with competitors

Looking at the phone price page, you can see that the Redmi Note 10 Pro sees rivals like the May 11 Lite in its price range, and with a bit of leeway, the Poco F3, and in almost no way, has a significant advantage over them: the Redmi Note The 10 Pro on paper uses a larger 108-megapixel sensor; But at least in our experience, the May 11 Lite shows better image processing thanks to its software algorithm and 64-megapixel camera, while also having a lighter and nicer body.

On the other side of the field, if you are interested in mobile games and can afford a small budget increase, the Poco F3, with its powerful Snapdragon 870 chip and 5G connectivity, multi-head, and neck, is higher than the Redmi Note 10 Pro.
