The German Association Of Nature Photographers (GDT) Has Announced The Winners Of Its 2022 Member Competition.

Nature Photographer Of 2022, The top prize was an outstanding artistic photograph of a rosary on a blossoming branch.

Unlike the GDT Europe Wildlife Photographer, which is open to all European photographers, the annual photo contest is exclusively for association members. This year, the competition received 6,400 entries.

Thomas Hampelmann from Germany won the bird competition with a photo titled “Florist.” This image shows a bird of prey sitting on a branch full of flowers. On his way back from a failed photography tour, Hampelman saw the bird and quickly stood up, took out his camera, and took a few pictures.

He explains:

The pictures were not very special, But when the delicacy was lifted and placed between the white blossoms I had already seen in the corner of my eye, my heart beat faster, as I had imagined many times before.

Hampelman studies ecology and landscape conservation and has been fascinated by nature since childhood. He sees photography as a means of documenting and recalling memories. Over the years, he has been inspired by the creative possibilities of nature photography and tries to capture the beauties of nature in the most beautiful way possible.
