Winners Of The “Communication” Category Of Wildart Photographer Of The Year 2021

Wild Photographer Of The Year Has Announced The Winners Of Its Fourth Category With The Theme Of “Communication” From Thousands Of Submissions Around The World.

After awarding wildlife photography winners in three categories: Wet, Space, and Eye, WildArt now turns to the Communication category as part of its new 2021 format, which awards winners in one class each month.

Wildlife photographers select and judge contest themes, and each article addresses a different conservation charity. The total prize fund is £1,300, split between the winners in each category.

The winners also have the chance to receive the title of WildArt Photographer of the Year and a prize of £3,000.

According to WildArt, the “Communication” category was chosen this time by the judge and wildlife photographer Petr Bambusek from the Czech Republic, who is himself a multiple award winner and one of Europe’s leading wildlife photographers.

Peter decided to support Save the Chocó, an organization with a mission to raise awareness and collaborate with local and global organizations to help protect critical habitats, areas, and species throughout the Chocó region of Colombia.

Wilders managed to raise £205,000 for Save the Chocó through direct donations from entry fees. Next, you can see selected images and winners of this category of the WildArt competition.

Gold winner in the communication category

Israeli photographer Amit Eshel won the communication category and the £500 prize with his photo of a mother mountain lion and her cubs. The image below, entitled Lessons for Life, was taken after a week of chasing a particular family of mountain lions in Patagonia, Chile. The mighty wildcats were calm in the photographer’s presence and allowed him to take a moment to photograph them.

In this image, while the cubs are busy playing and learning through imitation, a female mountain lion looks for prey from a high point.

The Patagonian puma has returned to the American wild after being close to extinction. Their return represents an example of conservation and coexistence with a feral cat that has suffered persecution in other parts of the Americas. This intimate family photo of mountain lions was taken with Canon EOS 1DX Mark II and Canon EF 200-400mm f/4L IS USM lens, set to 1/1,250s, 381mm, f4, ISO 640.
