Winners of the British Ecological Society photography competition

A Photograph Of A Tree Frog Taken In The Dark Has Won The British Ecological Society’s Photography Competition.

A tree frog peering into the camera in the darkness of a tropical rainforest has won the British Ecological Society’s 2022 photography competition. The image captured earned overall winner Roberto Garcia Roa $922 and a Lomo’Instant camera.

Describing the hidden beauty of his photo, Roberto García Rua says that in the darkness of the night, the dazzling eyes of the tree frog shine like two lights.

This image shows the hidden natural beauty of Tambopata, an area currently under threat due to gold mining. Seeing the eyes of this frog, which look like golden pearls, remains like a paradox; Because, in truth, the real treasure lies in ensuring the protection of this area and its inhabitants.

Winners of the Ecological Society photography contest

The British Ecological Society is the oldest in the world, and its vision is the prosperity of nature and people in an ecologically inspired world.

Winning the “British Ecological Society” photography competition is especially important to Roa because this competition connects two powerful allies, science, and photography, which have joined hands for the past two centuries as critical tools for deciphering the natural world around us.
