How to install VMware Tools on Windows operating system

In the first step, you should start installing the program by clicking on Install VMware tools from the menu.

In the second step, wait a bit and open windows explorer. A virtual disk will appear, an ISO file. Double-click on the virtual disk and click yes.

Next, the wizard window will appear. In this window, you have to move two steps forward by pressing the next option and, in the end, clicking on the Install option.

After clicking the Install option, you must be patient until the VMware Tools installation process ends. Click Finish after the installation process is finished.

How to install VMware Tools on Linux operating system

Like the Windows operating system, if VMware Tools is not installed on the Linux operating system, the operating system will not work properly, and you will see a small screen that will completely change the situation with the installation of this program.

After installing VMware Tools in your Linux operating system, you can adjust the screen size. All the features created for the Windows operating system will also be created for this operating system, which we mentioned in the initial parts of the article.

Follow the steps below to install VMware Tools properly.

At startup, enable your Linux machine to boot. In the next step, enter your username and password to get to the desktop page. In the top bar, you will see the menus that start the installation operation by clicking on the Install VMware tools option from the VM menu;

In the next step, a CD icon, which is a virtual drive, will appear on the desktop. Enter this virtual drive and drag the VMware Tools file from the drive to the desktop.

It’s time to open a Linux terminal to enter the cd Desktop command to navigate to the desktop folder. In the next step, you must enter a command to extract the copied file on the desktop: “tar -xf VMwareTools-10.1.6-5214329.tar.gz”. Of course, your file name may differ from our example’s file name, so you should be careful when writing the command.

After the file is unzipped, a folder called VMware-tools-distrib will be created. You need to enter the command cd VMware-tools-distrib to the mentioned folder.

By entering the command VMware-install.pl /. The installation process starts in the terminal.

During the installation process, you will be asked questions about the installation location, which you can reject by pressing the enter key.

During the installation of VMware Tools, it is recommended to disconnect the Internet because if the Internet is connected, every tool installed will be checked for updates which will prolong the installation time.
