The NearDrop utility provides an easy way to share data between Android and Apple Mac OS devices.
A new app called NearDrop brings support for Nearby Share to macOS. Since this program is still in the early stages of development, many of its features are incomplete. Still, it allows transferring files wirelessly from Android devices to Mac computers.
The news of NearDrop’s introduction was first announced on Reddit, where we saw a link to the project’s GitHub page, Where you can download its initial version.
Grishka, the developer of this app, says that it currently offers the Nearby Share feature partially; This means that the tool can receive files from Android devices, and thus, two-w, ay sharing is not avunavailablerding to XDA for the NearDrop file transfer system to work correctly, the Mac computer and the Android device must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network. This tool is the only way to transfer files from your Android device to macOS computers.
Another interesting point is that NearDrop is different from the original Nearby Share.
Importantly, when NearDrop is enabled, your device will be visible to everyone connected to the same network.
By enabling NearDrop, a notification will be displayed in the menu bar, and the transferred files will be automatically placed in the Downloads folder. You can download it by visiting the NearDrop GitHub page and extracting the received file in the next step. Since the mentioned program is not allowed, you will face a security warning when installing macOS.
Although NearDrop works for most people without problems, some have encountered minor issues, which is expected in the software’s trial version.
