5 New Features In iOS 17 That Have Been In Android For A Long Time

In This Text, We Introduce Several Features That Have Just Been Introduced In iOS 17; But They Have Been In The Android Operating System For A Long Time.

A few days ago, Apple officially unveiled the iOS 17 operating system and several other products at its WWDC 2023 event.

This operating system is supposed to be released in the second half of 2023 and can be installed on iPhones from 2018 onwards.

During this event, Apple also introduced the new capabilities and features of iOS 17 and explained each one.

In the continuation of this text, we are trying to introduce the new features of the iOS 17 operating system that were previously available in the Android operating system and explain the difference in how to use each one in iPhone and Android phones.

iOS 17 features that were previously present in Android

Standby mode

iPhone stand-up mode

One of the newest features of the iOS 17 operating system is the standby mode, activated when you place your iPhone horizontally on a wireless charger at night!

In this situation, the phone automatically provides a function similar to an Amazon Echo smart speaker, and you can do various types of personalization, such as displaying a digital or analog clock or setting an alarm on it.

Also, in this case, it will be possible to use various widgets such as displaying the weather condition or the intelligent control system of home equipment.

This feature has been visible in Google Pixel phones for some time. Place your Pixel phone on Google’s second-generation wireless chargers. You will see a frame of images in the gallery, a media player, an intelligent control system for home gadgets, and a shortcut for Google Assistant.

Offline map download

On the other hand, in an exciting move, Apple also added the ability to download maps for offline use from the Apple Maps application to iOS 17.

This feature has been available in the Google Maps application on Android phones since 2012 and was recently released on the iPhone.

Live Voicemail

Another attractive feature of the iOS 17 operating system borrowed from Android phones is Live Voicemail, which instantly shows you a summary of new voice messages so you can more easily decide whether to answer the call!

To protect your security, voice mails are processed in real-time in the phone itself, and those recognized as spam by the operator will be automatically rejected and not displayed in the Live Voicemail section.

This feature is also very similar to the Call Screen feature in Pixel phones, which has been present since 2019.

Thanks to this attractive feature, Google Assistant automatically answers calls and asks for the caller’s details. Then this information will be summarized, and you can decide whether to answer this person’s call!

Send voice or video messages to an unavailable contact

iOS 17 users can also send voice or video messages to their contacts even if absent.

This feature was previously present in the Google Duo messaging app, which is now disabled! In this application, if your contact did not answer your call, you could explain the ring’s purpose by recording a thirty-second video message.

Improvements made to Siri functionality

In addition to the mentioned items, Apple has improved the efficiency of its intelligent assistant, Siri, in iOS 17. Users can only use Siri to activate the smart assistant in this operating system instead of saying Hey, Siri.

After this, you can issue various commands to it one after the other without having to reactivate Siri.

This functionality of iOS 17 has been available to Android users for about four years. Google has even gone one step further, allowing users to speak shortcuts for frequent commands.

For example, if you frequently use Google Assistant to set the alarm or turn it off, you can issue your commands to the device without using OK Google every time.

Conclusion

As always, the new generation of Apple’s mobile operating systems has been provided to the users of this company’s phones with new capabilities and features.

Naturally, some of these features have been introduced to the mobile world for the first time by iOS 17. However, some others have been present in Android phones for some time.

The constant battle between Apple and Google has been going on like this for years, and the winners of this great fight are undoubtedly the consumers who enjoy many attractive features in every generation.
