The Winners Of The Independent Photographer Street Photography Contest Of 2022

Independent Photographer Has Just Announced The Winners Of Its September 2022 Street Photography Competition.

The street photography competition is held to honor and award photographers for excellence in observing and documenting life on the streets. In this year’s Independent Photographer street photography event, images from more than 40 countries were reviewed, and ten winners and finalists were selected by the respected judge Jamel Shabaz.

Jamel Shabazz was born and raised in Brooklyn. He picked up his first camera at fifteen and started documenting his peers. Inspired by photographers such as Leonard Fried, James Van Derzee, and Gordon Parks, he was fascinated by their documentation of the African-American community.

In 1980, as a concerned photographer with a clear vision, he embarked on a mission to extensively document various aspects of life in New York City, from youth culture to a wide range of social conditions. Due to their novelty and uniqueness, the streets and the subway system became the background of many of his photos.

In the following, you can watch the works of these ten highly talented artists.
