The Finalists Of The 2021 Wildlife Comedy Photography Competition

The Finalists Of The 2021 Wildlife Comedy Photography Competition

At The Wildlife Comedy Photography Event, Photographers Display The Best And Funniest Images They Have Captured Of Wildlife.

These Photos Usually Show Animals Doing Something Strange, Unusual And Funny.
The Comedy Wildlife Photography Competition was founded in 2015 by professional photographers  Paul Johnson-Hicks and Tom Salam. They wanted to create a contest that focused on the comedic and hilarious aspects of wildlife photography.
Their goal was to promote wildlife conservation through humour. This year, for example, they donated one-tenth of their total net income to the Save Wild Orangutans charity, which protects wild orangutans in and around Gonong Palong National Park in Borneo.
Michelle Wood, a member of the comedy wildlife photography competition team, says of this year’s event:
This year was the second year of the Covid 19 virus outbreak, and people did not have much time to travel, But we received more than 7,000 entries from photographers who found newer and alternative opportunities. Many wildlife photographers have tried their luck near their homes. This year’s competition included a much larger number of images of birds of all species than in previous years.

According to Michelle, it is difficult to advise those who are preparing for next year’s competition. He says:
The difference between a comedy wildlife competition and other photography competitions is the humorous aspect, which depends on the photographer’s decision per second to press the shutter button at the right time. It is a good idea to take your camera or smartphone with you whenever you are out of the house not to miss a particular scene if you come across it. I suggest you always be ready to take amazing photos.
Michelle continues:
You have to be patient; Very, very patient. Wildlife photography requires a lot of patience, and comedy wildlife photography requires a lot more patience. Since participating in the comedy wildlife photography contest is free, I recommend you try your luck by sending us your photos and videos. By purchasing print photos or calendars, people can directly help us support the charity and our message at the heart of the competition.

When the white eagle failed to hunt this plain dog, it jumped towards the eagle and frightened it so much that the eagle escaped to the nearest possible shelter. This was a real scene similar to the story of David and Goliath.
According to Michelle, how a contest decides to support a charity each year depends on several factors.
We examine various factors, including sustainability, accessibility, location, species, and long-term charitable goals. Wild Orangutan Rescue is an amazing initiative created by the Gunung Palung program to help local people align their lives and work with orangutan populations and habitats. We all live in this world; So we have to work together to maintain it. This charity is in line with our core message of protection; So we try to help them in this direction by covering the competition.
The winners of the categories and the overall winner of the competition will be announced on October 22. The works of the finalists of the 2021 competition will be exhibited at the Birmingham Photography Fair.

In a press release, Paul, one of the contest’s co-founders, said that the contest team was surprised by the number and quality of entries submitted this year. This year, 7,000 interesting photos have been sent from all over the world for this contest. Paul says about this period of competitions:
Given the impact of the epidemic, there was an amazing turnout this year. The many images we receive each year reflect people’s desire to protect the environment and reminds us that wildlife is truly incredible and hilarious. We must do our best and protect the wildlife as much as possible.

  • Photo Title: Living in Quarantine
  • Photographer Name: Kevin Biscaborn
If you stayed indoors with your family during the quarantine and wished you could get out as soon as possible, you should know that these eastern raccoons understand you well. Just when the photographer thought there was no more space in this hollow hole in the tree, the mother raccoon appeared and showed her that her family lived in a cramped space without social distance.
This photo took in southwestern Ontario, Canada. After exploring a specific area with many trees, the photographer identified this area as a suitable spot for the raccoon family. Because raccoons are constantly moving from one nest to another and often do not stay overnight in a particular nest, finding their location is not an easy task. When Biscaborn was able to find this funny family, he immediately planted the camera in a suitable pit at a suitable angle. When the camera and tripod were ready, the baby raccoons were so curious that they pulled their heads out of the tree hole to get close to Understand the issue.

The public is free to vote for their favourite photos on the contest website until October 10th. A lucky voter will win a new iPad.
“Another co-founder,” says Tom.
This year it was harder than ever to choose from a list of photos. Many funny pictures made us laugh, But we could not put them in the top 40. So this year, we will publish 42 images as the top images! It was great to see various animals, from extremely rare pigeons to their most common species. Our team is looking forward to seeing which of these selected images will get the most votes.

  • Photo Title: Mr Laughing
  • Photographer name: Martina Novena
This grey-jawed kid seems to be laughing. I really liked the shape of the face recorded in this jaw. This state is similar to the facial expressions of humans. I lay on the rocky shore as far as possible for hours on end and waited patiently for one of these little jaws to appear around me. This kind-hearted kid came to the beach to rest and sleep on a piece of rock of your choice for a few hours; Until the tide forced it a little further away from the shore. During sleep, he would sometimes stretch his body and yawn. This was one of those yawns that sounded like laughter.

  • Photo Title: Magnificent White Eagle
  • Photographer Name: David Appleley
White-tailed eagles use the same nest for years and decades and only renew their old nest every year at the beginning of the nesting season. White-tailed eagles are usually very good at picking tree branches in flight, But the eagle is probably tired of the incessant work of renovating its nest. This picture looks painful, though; But the eagle recovered just by waving its wings and decided to rest a bit before continuing.

  • Photographer Name: Net Tan
The horned owl’s face shows the true human reaction of waking up and drinking a cup of coffee. I eagerly watched two cute owls in their nest to capture this image and hoped they would wake up or move. It took a long time for one of the two overly sleepy babies to wake up with their mouths open. This is what I saw when one of them finally started shaking. The owl first opened both of its eyes halfway, then opened one of its eyes, and finally, both eyes stared at my camera.

  • This photo took in Curaçao, the Caribbean, the Netherlands. Cages are usually difficult to photograph; Because they have no problem with divers approaching; But if they find out you want to take a picture of them, they will always turn their backs on you. That’s why I tried to swim half a meter above the fish, and I was not interested in it at all. At the same time, I placed the camera in front of my chest and held it down. When the time came, I turned the camera 90 degrees forward toward the fish and took a picture. I never expected the beautiful lips of this fish to be so close to the camera.
