The idea of photographing cats standing came to Alexis  Reynaud when he was watching his cat. He says about how to create this collection:

This idea came to me when I was watching my cat’s movements. At that very moment, it seemed to me that the spirit of “Puss in Boots” had entered him, and it was then that I decided to create this unique gallery of cat portraits, and thus, the “Standing Cats” series was born. They all stand amazingly So that they look a little like us.
