the space between

There is only one volcanic mountain in the world that emits blue fire, and a huge acidic lake is formed around it, and that is the Kawah Ijen volcano in East Java, Indonesia. The turquoise lake of the crater of the Kawah Ijen volcano is exceptionally calm. And it looks attractive. The main point of this image is watching the sunrise of the Milky Way at the top of the crater of this volcano, which has turned it into one of the most beautiful images recorded.

With a height of 2.8 km above sea level and a coverage of 20 km, the Kava Aijen volcano is a fascinating mountain. When you imagine an active volcano, you generally think of a huge mountain that sends thick smoke into the sky, and red lava and molten material pours around from its crater, But this is a common perception that Kava Aijen has changed because of its uniqueness.

Mount Aijen, unlike most volcanoes, emits sulfur gas that burns azure blue when ignited. Aiden’s flames twist and shine like a neon sign, and during the night, blue molten material pours out like a waterfall from around this mountain, forming a beautiful sight.

When sulfur gas comes out from under the earth’s surface with tremendous pressure, its temperature reaches 600 degrees Celsius. When this gas hits the air at a very high temperature, it ignites beautifully and creates an azure-colored explosion that can reach a height of 5 meters. After condensation, some of this sulfur gas ignites freely and goes down the crater. The same burning liquid sulfur is confused with blue molten material.

Master Kormoran

Cormorant fishing is an ancient but dying tradition in Guilin, China. The method of fishing with cormorants in traditional Chinese is historical. In this picture, the Chinese fisherman catches fish with a bird called a cormorant that he trained. In this method, fishermen install hooks around the cormorant’s neck without using traditional fishing methods and using fishing rods, pins, or baits, and then the bird is free to go hunting for fish.

The cormorant goes to the fish and keeps its catch in its beak, But the bird cannot swallow the fish despite the hook. In this way, the cormorant returns to the fisherman and presents his catch to him. Fishing in this way has been a booming industry in the past, But today, it has become a tourism industry. This method has been passed down from generation to generation, But in modern China, no one goes to this method anymore. Most of the fishermen who use the cormorant bird for fishing are in their eighties, and the youngest of them is 60 years old.

The polar bear family in a melting world

The photographer says in the explanation of this picture:

The mother bear and her two cubs are on the ice’s edge and have no idea what to do next. 2018 was a relatively warm year in the Arctic, and this is the last remaining piece of ice east of Svalbard. Without ice in this area, the mother bear cannot hunt for food for herself and her cubs.

Scientists investigated the melting of Arctic ice and concluded that the reason is the warming of the deep water of the Atlantic Ocean. Researchers say that global warming has led to the rapid warming of the deep waters of the Atlantic Ocean, and this warm water flows from the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean to the Arctic ice, causing them to melt from below and not from the higher parts. This type of melting causes huge volumes of icebergs to collapse at high speeds. This issue causes the formation and stabilization of icebergs at the North Pole to stop. According to the joint research of researchers, the said process has accelerated since 15 years ago, and the intensity of the destruction of icebergs at the North Pole is regularly increasing. In 2018 and 2019, Arctic ice melting intensified, and of course, it decreased a little in 2020.

Appreciation

The photographer says in the explanation of this picture:

As the world celebrates the days approaching Christmas, this little girl searches for firewood in her deserted village. His family was impoverished and unemployed, and it was a big challenge for them to survive from one day to the next.

The silent cry of a Hong Kong protester

In this picture, a man can be seen who came to the street in protest against the anti-extradition law amendment movement in Hong Kong. That night, he was attacked by undercover police dressed as protestors, and blood flowed from his face and teeth. While recording this image, he silently opened and closed his mouth in front of the camera. The photographer says in the explanation of this picture:

On June 9, 2019, an estimated one million people marched in the streets of Hong Kong to protest the government’s proposed extradition bill. This movement, known as the demonstration against the extradition bill of Hong Kong 2019, is a series of protests against the extradition bill of suspects and accused in Hong Kong to China. This bill was first proposed by John Li (the then Minister of Security of China) in February 2019. If passed, would allow local authorities to deport wanted people to territories with which Hong Kong does not have extradition agreements; including mainland China and Taiwan.

planet earth

The photographer says in the explanation of this picture:

The photo was taken at an altitude of 42,000 feet in the Sahara desert (the tremendous African desert), and it is as if this tiny blue marble is floating in the infinite void.

The Great African Sahara is the largest hot desert in the world and is located in North Africa, with an area of 9,200,000 square kilometers. About two and a half million people live in this area, most of whom are desert people from parts of Mauritania, Morocco, and Algeria. The Sahara divides the African continent into two parts, North Africa and Black Africa. Man has lived on the edge of the desert for fifty thousand years. This dessert is considered to be two and a half million years old. This desert is the largest hot desert in the world and the third largest treeless area after Antarctica and the Arctic. This desert is so big that its size is compared to China or the United States.

Prozac

The photographer says in the explanation of this picture:

The photo collection, of which this image is one, shows my personal experiences with depression. In my twenties, I became prone to depression, and since then, I have found antidepressants useless. I decided to leave Moscow and find a place where I could be happier and describe my experiences, But depression followed me. People think that depression is just like normal discomfort and maybe a little more than that, But it is not like this. Because the things we usually do to cheer ourselves up don’t work for us when we’re depressed and can’t be relied upon as a cure. I tried to change my perspective to escape my troubles, But it was no use. I think depression should be understood and treated as a disease, Although I am not aware of the twists and turns of this path.

Freedom of Belarus

This photo was taken a few months ago in line with widespread protests against Alexander Lukashenko, the 65-year-old president of Belarus. The president, who has been in power for 26 years now, has taken over the presidency for the sixth time in a row. Lukashenko announced that he had won Sunday’s presidential election with 80 percent of the vote. Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, his election rival, has refused to leave Belarus and sought refuge in Lithuania due to fear for the safety of her life and her children. Many of the people of Belarus considered Tikhanovskaya to be the real winner of the election.

last moments

The photographer says in the explanation of this picture:

A keen student who used to play the violin in the city of Cite Soleil has stopped playing because of a disease that has caused his head to grow more significant by the day. I cautiously asked him if he could play for me one more time. Because suddenly, I had this feeling that we only had a few moments left for us. He closed his eyes and played for the last time in the light.

country doctor

The photographer says in the explanation of this picture:

When the Covid-19 pandemic began to spread in Italy, Luigi Kavanagh, head of the oncology department at Piacenza Hospital, decided that the best way to approach the disease was to treat it early, The same way you would treat cancer. With a machine that monitors blood oxygen levels and a portable ultrasound scanner, Dr. Kavanagh visited patients in their homes and treated them mostly with hydroxychloroquine. With this method, he saved more than 365 patients.

The history of contemporary ruins

The photographer says in the explanation of this picture:

This is what happens when abandoned places are reclaimed by nature. Nature is more robust, and whatever happens to humans, nature always remains. When a man leaves heart and leaves, core returns and takes everything back. Perhaps the purpose of such events is to awaken our consciousness.

Quarantine in New Zealand

Jacinda Ardern, the Prime Minister of New Zealand, announced in the early days of the outbreak of the Corona virus that strict and quick action must be taken to deal with this situation. New Zealand is among the countries that recorded the lowest number of deaths due to Covid-19. On March 25 of last year, when 100 cases of Covid-19 were recorded in New Zealand, and no patient had died yet, this country closed its borders to foreign travelers and sent its citizens returning from abroad to a two-week quarantine. The New Zealand government announced a complete quarantine in this country two days after this date, An action that was considered very strict according to the internationally defined criteria for dealing with the spread of Corona.

From this date onwards, only grocery stores, pharmacies, and hospitals were allowed to operate. This country’s urban traffic and vehicle movement were limited, and social relations were limited to family relations. These severe restrictions lasted for a month and then gradually eased. After imposing restrictions, New Zealand could contain and defeat the Coronavirus. The whale shark in this picture is just floating under the boats on the water’s surface. It is the largest fish on earth; more than 10 meters. This creature is one of the most peaceful and influential inhabitants of our planet. A lot of details have been taken into account when taking pictures due to proper composition. The whale shark is the world’s largest fish found in warm tropical oceans and feeds on small fish and plankton. Whale sharks can grow up to 12 meters and weigh up to forty tons. The lifespan of this whale shark is from 80 to 130 years.

I am Rohingya

The photographer says in the explanation of this picture:

The Rohingya are a small Indo-Aryan Muslim ethnic group that has lived in the Rakhine state in western Myanmar for centuries. Due to racism and many other socio-political issues among the majority of Myanmar, they were declared as a stateless Bengali community who migrated to Myanmar from Bangladesh. More than one million Rohingya live in Myanmar and are the most persecuted people in the world who are deprived of their land, human rights, and citizenship. In recent months and years, Myanmar’s military has launched a silent genocide to force them out of the country.

The United Nations, as well as most international media and human rights organizations, describe the Rohingya people as one of the most oppressed minorities in the world. These people make up 4% of the total population of Myanmar. According to the laws that were developed during the military rule in Myanmar, Rohingya Muslims are deprived of many government services and citizenship benefits because they are not among the ethnic groups that make up the nation of Myanmar and live in conditions like apartheid. Out of the one million and three hundred thousand Muslim population of Myanmar, only about 40 thousand people have citizenship in this country. The Myanmar government considers the Rohingya Muslim minority to be illegal immigrants who arrived from Bangladesh. The government of Bangladesh also has a stringent policy against “illegal immigrants” and prevents them from entering.

Red

The photographer says in the explanation of this picture:

This image was recorded from four thousand meters high in Sichuan, China. The place looks red around sunset after heavy rain. “Larong Gar,” the largest Tibetan Buddhist academy in the world, is also visible in this picture. Larong Gar, fifteen kilometers from Sartar city, is one of the largest centers for training Buddhist monks and nuns, where about forty thousand people are trained. Somewhere among the green valleys of the Larong Gar Mountains in China, thousands of red houses have been built, which are the residences of the members of the largest Buddhist school in the world, the Larong Gar School.

Since the 1980s, this village has been home to 40,000 Buddhist monks. Buddhist monks study religion in this place, away from the noise of cities and pollution. Their wooden huts are built very close to each other and are all red. In this village, monks and nuns live in simple houses with two to three rooms, depending on age and sex. In this place, television is forbidden, and everyone should spend all their time reading and praying.

Blue snake attack

The photographer says in the explanation of this picture:

Watch out for this deceptive blue snake. This photo is like a “look but doesn’t touch” situation; Because visually, this snake may look like a beautiful blue snake, but it is not one of those creatures you want to mess with. This type of snake is sold in specialty pet stores and is not a good option for beginners.

in the wrong place and at the wrong time; Accidental victim of drug gangs

The photographer says in the explanation of this picture:

According to his wife, a man was sitting on a bench in the city’s main square at the wrong place and time. Two rival drug gangs faced each other and accidentally ended this man’s life. This happened in a remote rural area in the central part of Mexico and Jalisco.

Garbage in the cloud

The photographer says in the explanation of this picture:

The thick smoke of toxic substances burning in this image has a much higher human toll than the flames. These poisonous fumes from landfills and vehicle recycling points lead to deadly clouds that can rain down on plants.

Lost memories

The photographer says in the explanation of this picture:

The magical sunset on the famous beach of Anse Source d’Argent has created a unique image. The name of this beach is frequently seen in the list of the best beaches in the world. This beach is located on the island of La Digue, the fourth largest island and the third most populated island of Seychelles and has the most beautiful roads in the world. The island’s coastline consists of several small crescent-shaped pink sand beaches separated by granite boulders.

Seven

The photographer says in the explanation of this picture:

According to the classic instructions of Chinese medicine, the seven emotions of anger, worry, loyalty, sadness, fear, and shock cause chaos. The heart, intestines, and the body’s balance center will be destroyed if these problems are not resolved.

We run, you fly

Dimpy Halotia is a famous and award-winning street photographer of Indian origin living in London. His “We Run, You Fly” project was significant for him. The project was meant to highlight the decline of birds across the city. Earth is the balancer of the ecosystem between humans, animals, and natural resources. Eventually, any system will be interrupted or disrupted,, and no more humans will exist. This is a mistake and a souvenir we leave behind for future generations. Dimpy Halotia makes his voice known through the photos he records.

Growing up in a coal mine in India

Jaharia, one of the largest coal mines in the world, is located in the “Jharkhand” region of India and has the title of the most extended burning fire in the world. Coal plants in Jharia, in the heart of India’s coal belt, have been burning for more than a hundred years, and the fire is still burning. The villages near these factories are still inhabited, and the threat of collapse is passed from one day to the next.

Coal extraction from this mine, which has an area of 260 square kilometers, began in the late 1800s under the orders of the British government. The first flames of open fire were observed in this area in 1916; However, in the 1980s, more than 70 tongues of fire came out of it.

As the depth of these fires increased, the officials ignored it more and hoped they would stop burning themselves one day. But this hope was  entirelydisappointing following the new exploitation operation in 1973.

In that year, the Bharat Coking Coal subsidiary started extensive open-pit mining operations as a new way of exploiting coal resources in India. It was at the same time that, according to local witnesses, the flames of this fire were ignited, and the disaster that continues until now took place.

Open-pit mining is expanding. Will the new generation that grows up here see a future that is not stained with this bitter truth?
