The Moon Photography Project Is One Of The Most Exciting Experiences For Photographers; Especially If A Beautiful Background Has Caught Your Attention.

From capturing stunning images of the new moon to shooting in special conditions such as eclipses and supermoons, photographing the beautiful moon of the earth has always had a special place among photographers. You will read below the account of Göran Strand , the author of the Petapixel website, about recording the image of the moon disk behind a historic church.

Last month, when I saw the November pill, I decided to take a picture of it. The 800-year-old Frösö Church is located in Sweden, and I planned to capture this view, the crescent moon behind the church.

Originally, the idea came to me in May when I was walking around Andersön. Anderson is a pristine nature on one of the Swedish islands. This island is five kilometers southwest of Frozon. I immediately realized that the Froso church was visible and would make a good background for a moon shot.

When I returned home, I tried to check the exact time of the moon’s rise and placement behind the church with the help of various software, including Photopills. The first day I came across it was November 22, 2018.

After 6 months, now it was time to take a picture of the full moon. Now everything depended on the weather; Luckily, luck was on my side and the sky was clear and the weather was perfect.

I photographed this scene using a Nikon D850 and a Nikon AF-S 600mm f/4 D IF-ED II lens. I also shot raw video of the moonrise in real time using a  Nikon D500 camera , a Nikon AF-S 300mm f/2.8 D IF-ED lens, and a Nikon AF-S TC-20E III teleconverter. Below you can see the full video of the process of photographing the moon.
