Introducing Methods to enhance the system graphics without the need to upgrade it

The amazing graphics games released almost every month will make you realize that your PC is out of date. You may have recently experienced a sharp drop in FPS (frame rate) and delays, which could mean you have to act as soon as possible! But the good news is that you do not always have to buy a brand new computer to solve this problem. All you have to do is upgrade your GPU and enjoy those games.

In this article, we will teach you the best ways to increase the graphic power of the system.

Update your graphics card drivers

Your graphics card is a key element of your gaming experience, but you can not experience its true function without a proper graphics driver. Graphics card driver upgrades can boost FPS. According to a recent Nvidia chart, gaming performance is improved with updated drivers.

Here’s how to update your Nvidia GeForce, ATI Radeon, and Intel HD graphics card drivers:

  • Nvidia GeForce: Go to the GeForce website, select your graphics card and Windows version from the list and click the Start Search button. If you have the GeForce Experience tool installed, you will receive an automatic notification whenever Nvidia releases a new driver.
  • ATI Radeon: Go to the AMD software website and select the appropriate device. This will give you access to the latest official drivers that you can download and install. You can also install the beta driver to improve performance or more features.
  • Intel HD Graphics: We do not recommend playing any games on the HD 3000 or earlier, but the latest Intel graphics chipsets can support current games – though not at the highest resolution possible. Go to the Intel Download Center to get updated drivers.

No matter what your GPU is, driver updates can instantly boost FPS and optimize Windows 10 for gaming. AVG Driver Updater automatically updates all your computer drivers continuously. When you do not have to worry about updating your drivers, you can focus on more important things – such as playing and mastering your games.

To know the manufacturer and the exact serial number of the graphics card, all you have to do is follow the steps below:

1. Go to Control Panel and open Hardware and Sound.

2. Click on Device Manager to display a list of all internal devices in your system.

3. Open the Display adapters drop-down menu.

Once you have identified your graphics card, make sure you use the latest drivers.

Boost your WiFi

Slow internet can delay games. So boosting Wi-Fi while not boosting your FPS can help reduce latency and increase gaming performance.

How to strengthen FPS: Advanced techniques

From GPU overclocking to learning advanced settings, some effective changes can be made to increase your computer’s FPS:

Overclock your graphics card

More than insufficient RAM or a problematic CPU, your graphics chip is a bottleneck that slows down or weakens the gameplay. Enhance your graphics card by overclocking to improve performance and increase FPS.

Five to ten years ago, overclocking could have damaged your hardware. But today, most current systems shut down before any damage. In addition, we are looking for GPU overclocking with a maximum of 15% to increase the quality of your gaming experience significantly.

On our main laptop, a MacBook Pro 2016 with Windows 10 and a Radeon 460 Pro GPU, we increased the GPU by 100 MHz and overclocked the RAM by 300 MHz.

Overclocking your GPU speeds up but puts more pressure on your hardware, not just the CPU or GPU – which raises the internal temperature of the computer. Overclocking our desktops and laptops raised the temperature by 5 degrees Celsius – significant but within safe limits. If you do this yourself, follow the safe GPU overclocking methods. The same goes for CPU overclocking.

Using 3DMark TimeSpy to perform benchmark tests, we found that overclocking our system, as described above, resulted in a 10% increase in performance.

Upgrade your graphics card

After upgrading to a 4K projector, we realized that our old computer could not be compatible with higher resolution. While The Witcher 3 ran well in Full HD, our two GeForce 970 graphics cards had problems with 4K.

With Nvidia’s Pascal GPU from the 2016/2017 generation alone, we get the graphics power to render 4K games at 60 frames per second or higher. But even in 2022 and beyond, you will need advanced GPUs like the GeForce RTX 3090 or Titan RTX to support this type of performance and PC optimization to play at this level.

If 1440p or 1080p is enough for your gaming needs, with a much more affordable GPU, you will see a significant increase in FPS. And if you are already building your gaming PC with Windows 10, you can choose the right GPU for the game.

Upgrade your system to SSD

SSDs are much faster than mechanical hard drives, making them a great way to optimize your Windows 10 PC for gaming. Upgrading to SSD does not increase your game frame rate, but it does increase your computer speed and reduce your in-game load time.

Choose an SSD with at least 250GB of storage, though this is more like a minimum than an effective starting point. Many modern games can be more than 50 GB, and you should also allocate about 30 GB for Windows. And, of course, this does not include your other files. In fact, you probably want 500 GB or more.

We went for the SanDisk Extreme 480GB ($ 395), with an incredible read speed of 540 MB / s and a write speed of 460 MB / s. The performance difference between this and our Alienware Stoke Rig drive is amazing:

Upgrade your computer RAM

RAM is your computer’s source for all your current tasks. The more RAM you have, the more work your computer can do simultaneously. Upgrading RAM optimizes your computer for gaming and makes it more powerful overall.

If you add RAM, make sure the new RAM modules match what you already have because you do not want to mix and match types of RAM. If you upgrade all your RAM modules to newer modules, check what kind of RAM your motherboard can support. Then, buy one or more similar RAM modules.

Increasing the RAM can give you a significant FPS, though not as much as upgrading your GPU or CPU. However, if you can add new RAM, it will not hurt.

Disable SuperFetch (SysMain) and Prefetch

SuperFetch (SysMain in Windows 10) and Prefetch are designed to reduce the start-up time of applications on your computer and Windows. But in the case of games, we found that the loading time and background activity actually increase with the activation of these features. Disabling them is an easy trick to improve the gaming experience in Windows 10. Here’s how to do it:

Note: Please read the instructions below carefully, as deleting or changing the wrong values in the registry may cause problems on your computer.

1-Type Services in the Windows search box, then select it from the results.

2. Scroll down to  to see SysMain and double-click on it.

3. Select Disabled from the Startup type options, then click Apply and OK. When you are done, close this window and the Services window.

4. Now press Windows + R until the Run box appears, type Regedit, and press Enter. Press Yes to confirm.

5. Enter the following path in the address bar and press Enter:

5. Enter the following path in the address bar and press Enter:

Computer \ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Control \ Session Manager \ Memory Management \ PrefetchParameters

6. Double-click EnablePrefetcher and enter 0 (the default value is 3) to disable Prefetcher, then click OK.

Integrate or optimize your disk

As data is written to or removed from your hard drive, it is fragmented and physically distributed throughout the disk. Fragmentation will reduce performance improvements – especially in the case of games – because the hard disk must collect all of the fragmented parts before it can process the entire file.

SSDs benefit from regular cleaning. The TRIM function tells your SSD to clear unused data blocks, which speeds up read and write speeds with more efficient data management.

Games and related files take up a lot of space, especially AAA – Doom Eternal and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, which take up at least 50 GB of storage space, and Red Dead Redemption 2 requires 150 GB. Windows must be able to continuously access all of this data without jumping through your drive.

Whether using a hard drive or an SSD, clear your drive to boot up your PC and optimize Windows 10 for gaming.

1. Open the Start menu and start typing the word defragment. Select Defragment and Optimize Drives from the search results.

2. Select your Windows disk and press Optimize. This will either integrate your hard drive or optimize your SSD via TRIM.

TRIM should be enabled by default for your SSD. But it may have been accidentally disabled, meaning your SSD is not running normally. Here’s how to enable TRIM:

Open Command Prompt: Click the Start menu and type cmd in the search bar. Select Run as administrator from the Command Prompt option and click Yes when prompted.

2. Now type the command Fsutil Behavior Query disable-delete notify, and press Enter.
