How To Block A Program From Accessing The Internet On Windows

To block the access of any software in Windows, just put it in the firewall. Suppose you have installed an antivirus other than the Windows antivirus itself. In that case, you must put the software in the list of the firewall of the same antivirus. If you are using the Windows antivirus, it is enough to be included in the prohibited list of the Windows firewall itself. Blocking access is suitable to prevent excessive internet consumption, fake serials from leaking, or any other reason… Stay with us and enjoy learning.

On Windows 10 or 11

To put software in the Windows 10 or 11 firewall (that is, if you do not have an antivirus installed and you are using the Windows antivirus itself), follow these steps:

1- Open Windows Security. For this, you can click on its icon at the bottom right of Windows, or if you don’t find the icon, like the image below, click on the magnifying glass symbol on the bottom left, which is search, and type secu and open it. Do:

2- Click on Firewall & network protection.

3- Then select Allow an app through the firewall.

4- Click on the Change settings button.

5- Select the program or feature you want.

Note: If the desired app is not in the list, click the Allow another app button to find it.

6- Select the type of network you want the program to access:

Private – allows the application to access the home or work internet network.
Public – allows the program to access the Internet of public places, such as coffee shops.

7- Click the OK button.

After completing the steps, the program will freely access the defined network.

If you want to remove a program from the firewall, you can follow the instructions above, except in step 5, remove the network access check for the program or feature.

In Windows 7

To do this in Windows 7, do the following:

1- Go to Start menu > Control Panel > System and Security. Then select a program.

2- Tick the desired program(s).

3- Select the type of network.

4- To confirm the settings, click OK.

If you want to remove a program from the Allowed programs and features list in the future, go back to the above window, click on the program, then select the Remove option.

In antivirus nod 32

1- Open the main window of your ESET Windows program.

2- Press the F5 key on your keyboard to access the Advanced settings.

3- Click Network Protection > Firewall, expand Advanced, then click Edit next to Rules.

4- Click on Add.

5- In the Name field, type a name for the rule and select your desired options from the Direction and Action drop-down lists.

6- Click on Local > Browse.

7- Go to the program for which you want to define a rule, select the program and then click on Open.

8- Click OK > OK > OK to save the changes.

In Kaspersky Antivirus

To add software to the Kaspersky firewall, follow the steps below:

1- Right-click on the Kaspersky icon in the notification area.

2- Then select Settings from the list.

3- Choose Threats and Exclusions from the list on the left. Note that you can use the Manage exclusions or Specify Trusted Applications option to add exclusions.

Add exclusions using the Manage exclusions option.

1- By selecting the Manage exclusions option – as shown in step 3 – the following Threats and Exclusions settings window will be displayed. Click the [Add] button.

2- Now click on the [Browse…] button.

3- Start searching the list from My Computer to the LSConfigurationUtility folder. Direction:

C:\Program Files (x86)\CivilGEO\LSConfigurationUtility

4- Select the LicenseServerConfiguration.exe program, then click the [Select] button.

5- Select All components from the Protection components option, then click the [Add] button.

6- The LicenseServerConfiguration.exe program will be added in the Exclusions section. Click [OK].

7- Click [Save] and close Kaspersky.

Add an exception using the Specify Trusted Applications option.

1- As shown in step 3, the following Trusted Applications window will be displayed by selecting the Specify trusted applications option. Click the [Add] button.

2- Start searching the list from My Computer to the LSConfigurationUtility folder. Direction :

C:\Program Files (x86)\CivilGEO\LSConfigurationUtility

3- Select the LicenseServerConfiguration.exe program, then click the [Select] button.

4- Select all the checkboxes under Exclusions for application, then click the [OK] button.

5- The LicenseServerConfiguration.exe program will be added to the list of Trusted applications. Click the [OK] button.

6- Click the [Save] button and close the Kaspersky application.

In BitDefender Antivirus

1- Click Protection on the left sidebar of the Bitdefender interface.

2- Click on Settings and then Application access in the FIREWALL window.

Note: Under normal circumstances, Bitdefender automatically adds a rule whenever a program tries to access the Internet. You can also manually add or edit rules.
