Step-by-step tutorial on giving beautiful effects to our children’s pictures in Photoshop

Today we are going to teach you how to give effects to simple photos to make your photos more attractive and professional.

In this tutorial, with the help of Photoshop, you will learn how to add texture and multiple layers to a photo effects .

To edit the top photo, we used texture and in the bottom photo, we used fantasy photos as a new layer.

Before you start editing, you can make the background of the photo a little darker to make your photo look different. To do this edit, you need to know how to use layers and masks in Photoshop, which of course is very easy. After downloading your favorite photos, you can start working. The following photos were used to edit the portraits.

Note that layer photos must be downloaded in PNG format to be supported in Photoshop. If the back of the photo is not transparent (called the checkered background of the photo in Photoshop Transparent), you can separate the background of the photo from the main subject, but it will be a bit difficult. So let’s start.

1. Open your photo in Photoshop.

The first image you open in Photoshop is called the Background Layer. For convenience, we changed the name of this layer to portrait -13 (the lowest layer in the right column).

2. On the same page, open the texture you want.

The texture used for this photo is called Chambord. There are two ways you can open a new photo in Photoshop:

1- You can take the photo you want with the mouse and drop it directly into Photoshop.

2- Or open your desired texture in the new Photoshop page and copy it on the portrait photo.

The second method is a bit longer, but the first method is both easier and also automatically converts your photo to Smart Object, meaning your text size automatically fits the size of the original photo.

Now in the Layers section, set the Blend Mode to Overlay to apply your texture to the image. Add a layer of mask to the Chambord layer and erase the texture from the baby’s face with a soft, black brush. After doing this, your layer should look like the second image in the right column. You can change the intensity of the texture by increasing or decreasing the Opacity.

Note: If you do not take a mask layer from your photo, the texture will also be applied to the child’s face. But our goal is to apply the texture only on the background of the photo.

3- Now you can add more layers to the photo.

To select the sheet you want, you can open that photo on a separate page in Photoshop, and after selecting a few sheets, copy them to the portrait photo.

Note that after adding each layer, set the Blend Mode to Overlay. Of course, you can use other modes, but this mode is very suitable for this photo. This time, take a layer of mask from the photo of the leaves and erase the desired parts with a brush. You can also change the Opacity of the leaves a little.

As shown in the photo below, the color of each leaf is different. To do this, you can change the brightness of the leaves or increase the contrast of the leaves. Before changing the color of any leaf, press Alt + Cmd or CTRL + G on it to change only the color of that leaf.

As you can see in the right column, the name of one of the layers is Group 1. After making the changes, you can put all four layers in one folder. All you have to do is select the layers you want and in the top menu of the Layers panel, select New Group from Layers.

4- Complete the photo editing using Adjustment Tools.

To reduce sheet saturation, create a Hue / Saturation adjustment layer and select Group 1 to apply the changes to only those images. By increasing or decreasing the green color, you can make the color of the leaves look like a baby shirt.

5. Now save your photo.

You can save the image in PSD format to save all the layers,

although this will increase the size of the image,

but saving the image in this format will allow you to change the layers again if needed.

You can select JPEG format for normal photo storage, but you can no longer change the layers of the photo.

Conclusion

As you can see, adding different layers to a photo is very easy. The following two photos have been edited in the same way.
