Enchanting images of abandoned and forgotten spaces

Photographer-Scientist Janine Pendleton Has Explored Several Abandoned Places Around The World And Shared Her Photos, Experiences, And Tips From Her Adventures In Places Not Usually Seen By The Public.

Janine Pendleton is an avid traveler who enjoys photographing over-backs. Under his brand (Obsidian Urbex Photography), he documents abandoned, lost, decadent, and often forgotten places.

Based in England, Pendleton travels throughout the country and abroad, photographing well-known locations such as Chornobyl and many places that few have heard of. Although he works as a scientist and enjoys his work, Pendleton’s day job doesn’t provide a suitable space for his creativity. This photographer-scientist says about his job:

My work is exact, and there is little room for leeway or straying from the parameters that describe my work.

On the other hand, urban exploration photography or over box gives him a completely different experience and allows him to express his vision and creativity. Pendleton says:

I can use my photos to tell my story. Photos show abandoned places, But the way they are recorded and edited reflects a piece of me.

Many of the places Pendleton visited had a history that he felt was worth telling. These stories can be about an abandoned old car o; a left house left years ago o,r even a darker and more mysterious setting. Even the simple change of his physical presence outdoors, a place away from computers and desks, brings a new spirit and mood to Pendleton’s life.

Pendleton has mixed feelings when he visits abandoned places that have often been intentionally or naturally destroyed or burned. He says:

When I look at newer photos of places I’ve photographed before and see that they’ve been destroyed, I wonder which fantaslocationlace will be the next to be killed.

However, there are also dilapidated places that have been restored and are being used now. Pendleton is thrilled to see forgotten areas now undergoing transformation and a new beginning; Because he had the opportunity to record their previous appearance.

With the spread of Corona, Pendleton’s extensive travel program was stopped, and a difficult time was spent on his creativity. However, he could explore more of his local area and discover local treasures that he had previously passed up for more exciting trips abroad.

I am sure of one thing; The corona epidemic and quarantines made me realize how much these small adventures have become a part of my life. I felt lost without the excitement of waiting for the next trip.

Now Pendleton is back to his travel schedule all over the country; Although the fate of international travel is still uncertain; this photographer will plan to travel to Estonia, Russia, and Georgia. He also looks forward to revisiting Japan within the next two years.
