It’s been almost a year and a half since the release of Doom Eternal, but Eid Software’s support for the title continues.

During the QuakeCon event, Idesoft shared more details about the next big Doom Eternal update, Update 6.66. The most important thing that this update brings is a new mode called Horde Mode. The game was originally intended to include the Invasion feature to attack another player in the form of one of the game’s enemies. 

But this feature was delayed for a long time, and finally, Eid Software announced some time ago that the development of this mode has stopped. Hord mode now replaces Invasion, which exposes the player to endless waves of enemies.

Update 6.66 will have other features with it.

Battlemode multiplayer mode is set to change in several ways, including an improved matchmaking system that considers the number of consecutive victories of players and a new map called Stronghold. 

Also, two new Master Levels will be available for players for the two stages of World Spear and Mars Core. 6.66 is expected to arrive this fall.

Within a year of its release, Doom Eternal received a new console version, beam tracking support, and two paid expansion packs from The Ancient Gods that ended the game. 

The Nintendo Switch game port was also finally released after months of delays. 

The second part of The Ancient Gods will be released soon for this version of the game.

The Multi Hacking system has been modified to make it more like Runes in single-player mode. We will choose a series of passive improvements before starting the fight, and it will not be necessary to take any action to activate their abilities.

The interface has also been changed, and we will have more information about who and how has killed us.

To check the changes in the multiplayer, it will hold a free weekend where you can try the multi and two levels of the campaign.

The date will depend on your platform: if you have a PC or Xbox One, it will be from today, July 20 at 6 PM on One or 7 on PC (Central European Time) until Monday 24 at 6 AM on One or Sunday 23 at 10 PM on PC.

If you have PS4, it will be next week: July 27 from 6 PM until Monday 24 at 6 AM. In addition, during the free weekends, the game will be available on sale at € 15, and the progress will transfer.
