This Mechanical Suit Is Really Powerful And Scary

Canadians Have Unveiled A Giant Mechanical Suit That Looks Like Something Straight Out Of A Sci-Fi Movie. Say Hello To Prosthesis!

Mechanical suits (exoskeletons controlled by a driver) have long been a staple of science fiction movies and are still a hot topic for Hollywood movies.

In fact, without the idea of mechanical suits, movies like Matrix, Avatar, or District 9 would never have been made!

However, it seems that these robotic devices will be more than just an idea for making movies; a Canadian company has produced a real example of them and plans to use them in reality.

The Prosthesis of mechanical and robotic clothing; A monster from science fiction movies

exoskeleton

Recently, a Canadian company called Exosapien Technologies unveiled a new mechanical suit called Prosthesis, and with its gigantic size, it holds the Guinness record for the largest quadruped exoskeleton.

This robot is about 3.96 meters tall, and its width will be 4.87 and 5.48 meters, respectively. This mechanical suit weighs more than four tons and is considered an absolute monster.

The Canadians’ new robotic skeleton is made of steel, chromium, and molybdenum alloy, which is much more robust than ordinary steel. In addition, there are tusks curved upwards in the front part, which evokes the image of a mammoth and gives this device an incredible look.

A lithium-ion battery also powers the Prosthesis, and its hydraulic system makes the user about fifty times more powerful!

Also, it seems that its design has been done to perform well in all levels, such as forest, river, or desert.

You might ask yourself, what is the purpose of building this gigantic mechanical structure? Is this device supposed to have military uses? If you have such an idea, you are very wrong; Because this device will be used primarily for entertainment purposes and participating in robotic competitions!

What exactly are robotic competitions?

In an interview, the founder of Exosapien Technologies described the primary purpose of creating this giant mechanical suit as robotic sports and entertainment.

The meaning of competition examples includes the famous American Ninja Warrior competition, where different people must overcome various obstacles and win the battle by relying on their physical strength.

It should be noted that the mechanical cover of Prosthesis is not automatic at all and is 100% dependent on the ability of its driver. Therefore, the driver’s skill will be the fundamental principle in the performance of these robots.

Of course, guiding these giant robots is another issue that requires a lot of attention. These devices are quadruped. Therefore, their performance system is different from the human body’s natural mechanism of movement and activity.

On the other hand, these devices have an utterly playful design. However, its large dimensions give the user little view of his surroundings.

Also, even though there are several bumpers around the user’s seat, shocks and vibrations to the user can cause problems in controlling the device.

Of course, no stadium or ring for robotic competitions is officially under construction yet. Therefore, the makers of this mechanical suit use it for special training for enthusiasts.

Each introductory-level Prosthesis training course takes about three days and costs nearly $20,000 for participants!

Of course, Canadian Prosthesis robots are not yet widespread. However, these robotic monsters should be seen as more than just an idea for making science fiction movies.

Currently, fully operational examples of these robots can be seen and even ridden. However, there is still a long way to go before robotic battles in the ring, like the ones we saw in Real Steel!
