How To Choose The Laptop You Need?

A Laptop Is One Of The Tools Needed By Most Businesses. Maybe In The Past, Only Engineers Needed A Laptop To Use Their Professional Software. Still, Today, With The Electronicization Of Most Tasks, Including Accounting, Warehousing, And Business Management, The Need For This Widely Used Tool Is Felt More Than Ever.

Because nowadays, at least in Iran, laptops are facing very high prices and cannot be replaced easily, one should pay attention to all aspects and its application when buying and choosing a device according to the budget and Preparing its application. On the other hand, each manufacturing company offers its own design style and quality.

In this article, we are trying to review different laptops in terms of usage and price to answer the question of how to choose the computer you need.

Laptop applications

In general, laptops can be classified into six categories in terms of performance:

Although this classification may not be reliable, we use them in this article to separate laptops.

Easy-to-use laptop

In simple usage, users try to run only light programs. Their goal is only to run administrative and management programs, Such as office suite, accounting programs, website management, programming with lightweight languages, and internet browsing.

In these types of laptops, there is no need for heavy hardware; Sometimes, they launch with a model with 2 or 4 GB of RAM and a dual-core processor, but you can’t expect much from them anymore.

Although very light games like GTA San Andreas can efficiently run on it, it does not support heavy games. Accordingly, they are also called students.

These models do not have a separate GPU, and the central processor does the work of the GPU in a limited way. Therefore, these types of laptops are called OnBoard or without graphics.

A laptop with the following specifications can efficiently run light office applications:

Introducing a simple student model

If you are looking for a cheap laptop and work starter, it is better to search between Acer, Lenovo, Dell, and HP. These brands are more suitable in terms of price compared to other brands.

In the following, we will introduce an example from each of these brands:

Introducing the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15.6 inches Laptop

This device is only designed for simple and general applications. The design of this laptop is thin and relatively light. Therefore, the optical drive has been removed from it. In general, you cannot expect much power from it, and you should be satisfied with running simple administrative programs in it.

Technical Specifications:

Mid-range laptop for office use

These laptops usually have discrete graphics, but not in a professional way. Separate graphics in these models typically run graphic programs such as Photoshop efficiently. However, they are still unsuitable for professional design, and heavy graphic programs cannot be installed and run on them. Also, administrative programs such as office, accounting, and warehousing are easily implemented.

Since these laptops have separate graphics, new and relatively light games can be played. Still, since the execution of these games is associated with lag (visual interruptions) and reduces the life of the device, it is suggested not to use them for playing.

The central processor and graphics are more potent in this model type than in student models.

A laptop with the following specifications can easily run office programs and Photoshop:

Introducing an example of an office model

If you are looking for performance and a reasonable price at the same time, office laptops are the answer to your needs. In this model, you can expect more professional use. For example, running the graphic program Photoshop or programming simulators are among the features of these models.

Laptop for design and gaming

These types of laptops both have relatively high graphics and use drawing tools such as a touch pen for drawing. These models can also be used to play rather heavy games. Due to their high power, running administrative programs is the easiest thing for them.

In addition to graphic programs such as Photoshop, these types of laptops can efficiently run editing programs, creating special effects, and professional 3D design programs such as Katia, Solidwork 3D Max, Blender, and Ciname 4D; Therefore, they are designed and made for professional use in every way.

A professional design can be prepared with the following specifications:

Introducing two examples of design and gaming models

The variety of models is so high that one cannot be introduced as a reference model. However, from the approximate technical specifications we mentioned above, it is clear that the processors of these models start from the i5 quad-core and continue up to the 16-core processor. This means that the correct price should not be considered in these models, which usually have a high price. The cheapest model among them starts from 20 million tomans.

Industrial laptops (Workstation)

These types of laptops are specially designed for use in harsh conditions. Their body is usually thick aluminum metal, and they have powerful hardware.

These types of laptops are used for professional purposes in the real sense. Companies such as large petrochemicals, aerospace companies, and industrial designers use these notebooks.

These laptops are usually much higher than gaming and design laptops, but if you can find stock models, you can get them at reasonable prices.

Imported stock laptops are usually referred to as laptops that have not been used much, or due to returns, defective parts have been replaced, and some of them are almost no different from new ones; So, if you are looking for the most powerful laptops in the world, these laptops are suitable for you.

These laptops are usually thick and heavy due to heavy parts and cooling fans; some are as wide as 5 cm. In some cases, ultra-advanced laptops with a thickness of 15 cm are supplied with three foldable monitors. These laptops are usually unavailable in the market; you must get them custom-made.

Other features of these laptops are waterproof, fireproof, shockproof, and scratchproof. Also, this laptop model can stay on for hours without interruption and without overheating for a month or even more. Of course, to preserve its life, it should be turned off whenever it is not needed.

Introducing four examples of industrial models

Industrial models are classified into four categories. This classification is due to the degree of pressure tolerance of the laptop. Therefore, we introduce four of them: the best-selling and most reliable models.

Introducing the HP Elitebook 8770w i7 laptop model

It is one of the best-selling models from HP, and its stock type can be obtained in Iran. Of course, this model is older than the others, but its introduction is not without merit.

Ultrabook lightweight and thin laptops

For some users, the low weight of the laptop is one of the critical parameters in choosing a computer. This laptop series is usually lightweight and soft in thickness, but they have a high price.

In this type of laptop, different models are used for both light and heavy work. However, these laptops are not recommended for professional use because they have a weak mechanism to cool the processor unless they use a unique cooling technology that is exclusive to a company, Like Apple laptops, which, while being thin, benefit from its processing and complete cooling mechanism.

Introducing four Ultrabook models

Apple laptops use their thinnest form in their new designs. Therefore, most of them are included in the ultrabook category. This section introduces four examples of ultrabooks from Microsoft, Apple, HP, and Asus.

Apple always tries to design its laptops very thin while having a powerful processor to be one of the most common laptops in the world. It has been successful in this way. Especially since its laptops and desktop computers support the Microsoft Windows operating system. Apple is the only company that uses its processors in all its products. In this introduction, we review the general specifications of Apple laptops:

Technical Specifications:

Tablet models (Tablet-PC)

Other laptop models include Windows tablets with detachable keyboards or tablet PCs. These models are made to be the lightest laptop models. Therefore, they can be used in both tablet and laptop models while being lightweight. This means you can remove their keyboard and use them as a tablet. Naturally, all the essential parts are included on the back of the tablet monitor. Of course, these tablets use excellent graphics and processors, and contrary to what they show, they are powerful, but they are still not recommended for professional work.

These models are more suitable for people who want to carry their laptops everywhere and need them anytime. Of course, these models have a relatively high price, and if the price parameter is essential to you, maybe these models are not suitable for you. The cost of Microsoft Surface models even reaches over 80 million, which depends on the model and brand. In cheaper models, you can get between 10 and 20 million. They also have a relatively small screen that reaches 14 inches in the most significant case.

Among these models, Microsoft Surface and Apple iPod can be mentioned.

In cheap models, we can mention the GLX and iLife brands, which usually have the lowest quality compared to the others. Of course, Xiaomi and Huawei models also offer tablets that are considered mid-range and have good quality.

One of the characteristics of tablet PCs is that the Windows operating system is installed and runs on them. This allows the execution of important Windows programs, and for this reason, they are called tablet PCs. Of course, the operating system is slightly different for Apple tablet PCs, and iPad OS is used. However, Apple’s iPods are also called tablet PCs, and many professional applications have been developed.

Using the tablet as a tablet PC

One of the ways to get a cheap tablet PC is to get a cheap 10-inch tablet with a separate keyboard and mouse and connect them to get an inexpensive tablet PC. However, your device is still an Android operating system, and you must prepare Windows-like programs for office and personal use.

The Android operating system has made significant progress and can be counted on. For example, you can install and use the set of office programs in the Android operating system under the Collabora Office or WPS Office. In addition, there are desktop launchers for Android that prepare the environment of this operating system for use in desktop mode.

 Choice in brands

Nowadays, the internal parts of all laptops are almost all produced by well-known and stable companies. For example, processors are made by five companies: Intel, AMD, Apple, Qualcomm Snapdragon, or MTK, all of which are the most potent processors except MTK models. MTK processors, which are weaker, are usually used on cheap and even no-name tablets, which are not what we are talking about; However, MTK sometimes offers good processors but focuses on low-cost devices. The rest of the processors used in reputable brands have originality and processing power, Or graphics processors are usually used by two powerful companies, Nvidia and ATI.

Meanwhile, to say which brand is better requires experience and working with them. Therefore, one of the solutions in choosing a brand is the history of that brand. A straightforward example can be seen in two brands, Acer and MSI.

Acer models are mainly used for office and student use

. Even in this brand’s top models, the laptop model’s performance is more for the design than for heavy games. On the other hand, the MSI brand tries to produce laptops for heavy processing and playing high graphics games, and even in its cheap models, you can feel the quality and speed. Accordingly, the Acer brand is more affordable than the MSI brand.

Therefore, the two brands, Acer and Lenovo, can almost be classified as cheap brands.

Other brands such as SONY, SAMSUNG, Dell, HP, Xiaomi, Apple, Asus, and Huawei are considered mid-range brands with good quality.

The MSI brand is professional in producing gaming laptops and is worth spending money on because it has a good history of making powerful laptops for gaming.

Note: This classification does not mean that other brands cannot offer professional and gaming laptops. A brand like Acer can provide a powerful laptop for professional work and gaming. Still, this classification is based only on the brand’s work history and the quality that users have experienced from them, and it cannot be an objective criterion for selection. Still, it can help you choose the best, along with the leading standards such as processor brand and graphics.

The two Microsoft and Apple brands are high-quality but expensive brands that are more suitable for the wealthy class; Therefore, if price and performance are essential to you, these two brands are not recommended.

If the price is essential to you!

If the price is essential to you, try to use office laptops as much as possible, because the graphics processor in notebooks is not replaceable and in general you may need graphics in some cases; So don’t underestimate the pictures and look for a model that has at least one gigabyte of authentic dedicated images.

The graphics of students and simpler models are usually Intel OnBoard and cannot have sound graphics processing. However, sometimes it gives you up to 2 GB of Share graphics. Still, you can’t count on its processing. Be sure to ask the seller for the amount of dedicated graphics and look for laptops with discrete graphics, usually labeled with a green NVIDIA label or ATI red color applied.

final word

Simple and student laptops are only suitable for those who research and use only simple applications. Of course, some jobs, such as mechanics, accountants, and offices that do not need heavy work, can also use simple models. In this case, they can reduce their costs as much as possible.

Most offices also need graphic work, separating graphic laptops from simple and student laptops.

Note: In some laptops, original Windows with the original license is used, making its price slightly higher than models without the operating systems. In Iran, where there is no copyright, you can use standard Windows, which is not that different from the original version.

Except that the original versions give exceptional support to their users, which with the current political conditions in Iran, Iranian users are usually deprived of this support; Therefore, in Iran, the original and regular versions are practically no different; So you can get devices without operating system to reduce the cost.

In some laptops, even though the FreeDOS operating system is mentioned in its specifications, since it is no longer used, it is considered a device without an original operating system. You must install the operating system separately on it yourself.

Outside of Iran, savvy users use Linux operating systems to reduce costs.

Most essential office programs, such as the Office suite, are already installed on it and are entirely free. So don’t be too strict on Windows being original or having a default operating system.

But make sure it supports the operating system you want to install. For example, some older Apple models do not support the Windows operating system, and only the Macintosh operating system is installed.
