Change Google Account Recovery phone number.
The recovery phone number acts as your second phone number. Therefore, it is better than it is different from your original number. When you do not have access to your phone, you can use the second number to verify your identity when logging in to your account or use it to reset your password. Follow the steps below to change this number:
- On your Android device, go to Settings and then open Google and Manage your Google Account.
- At the top, tap the Security tab.
- We can verify that it’s your section; tap Recovery phone.
- Google will ask you to re-enter your password to continue.
- You can delete the phone number you previously entered as the recovery number on the next screen by tapping the pen icon, editing, or tapping the trash can icon.
Change Google 2-step verification number.
When logging in to your Gmail account from other devices, the number used for two-step authentication may be separate from your original number. Also, you are not limited to one phone number, and you can use several different numbers to receive a verification code when you sign in. However, keep in mind that these numbers are not a substitute for an emergency number or Recovery phone and are not used to reset your Google Account password.
Follow the two steps to change the verification number:
- On your Android device, go to Settings and then open Google and Manage your Google Account.
- From the top menu, tap the Security tab.
- In the Signing in to Google section, tap 2Step verification.
- Google will ask you to re-enter your password to continue.
- After entering the page, scroll to the voice or text message section. Then, tap on it.
- You can delete the number on the next page by selecting the Trash button or entering the Add another phone number button and entering a new number for two-step Google authentication.
