Barbara Cole is a famous photographer known for her beautiful portraits of people underwater; These photos are so dreamlike that the audience doubts whether they are looking at a picture or a painting.

In her recent project titled “Appearances,” Barbara changed the subject of her photos from humans to flowers. The idea of this project started when Barbara was deprived of communication with her human subjects due to the spread of Corona, quarantine, and social distancing.

According to Cole, she was looking for a point of connection during the breakups and believes that the quarantine helped her to embrace the beauty of flowers. Flowers are inherently beautiful, But he was taught to look for beauty in everything. He says:

In this project, I wanted to show the personality of each flower along with its humor; The secret beauty of every flower is not easily understood. With this, I tried to look at flowers from a new perspective.

By choosing this common subject, Barbara intended to photograph them from a new perspective.

After months of trial and error, trying different techniques, and trying to understand how to portray a new subject, he finally achieved images of the same quality as his portraits.

These images’ softness, movement, and waves are so desirable that you are looking at a watercolor painting.
